I hope y'all don't want to start seeing DU TV and magazine articles that specifically portray the public hunters while on public ground. The same grounds that you and I like to hunt on. Imagine how pi$$ed off we would be if the DU film crew was camped out in your favorite honey hole at 1:00 am opening morning of season this year. The very hole that you thought used to be a secret from everyone. Just think how many out-of-towners that would attract if they started making this a regular event.

Just imagine the uproar that would cause within the anti-DU crowd if they started filming and writing articles, shifting their focus from exclusionary hunting places to article about the ALL of local hotspots. Well, I for one, don't ever want DU or any of those local groups to appeal to the common hunter this way.

I would like to keep my honey hole a secret.

Wildfowler-I have squandered most of my life away-nobody to blame but myself-but with God's help, things are starting to turn around.I accept my life with a very positive attitude.I have to.
I give my time freely now,and will continue to do so in the future, but only to charitable causes. Not to pay another man's salary.
You need to realize that not all people have the same opportunities.
Not everyone had parents who put them through college or backed them in business. No matter how positive they are, they'll never get to those places.
Hambone-as far as my being a socialist is concerned.NOT HARDLY!!But I'm not an elitist either, and tha seems to be who d.u. caters to

Sportsman, you are 100 percent correct. We do not all have the SAME opportunities in life. But all of us here in this community do have opportunities in our lives, in some form or another. I just choose to be positive so that I can make the most of my life. It doesn't help my personal situation any by having a bad attitude. And Lord knows that I need all the help I can get.

Sportsman, that's good. If you are not going to pay another man's salary, that's good. That means that you are not going to work for someone else. That means you are going to work for yourself.

That's great! That's exacltly what I am trying to do, too. Man is it hard to get started. I've been at this for a couple of years now, it is very difficult. But I'm chipping away at it, and will eventually get there.

What? Take some of the money out of duck hunting and things will improve. Who ever said that duck hunting was supposed to be cheap and affordable by everyone?

Hasn't duck hunting always been referred to as "the rich man's sport". We are the very people they were talking about.

You really want to make it cheaper to duck hunt and things will be better, Stano?

I don't understand that idea. Did I miss your point completely?

Duck hunting didn't become the rich man's sport until the late 70's when some fool took a northest Jackson doctor hunting.

Postby Stano » Mon Oct 14, 2002 6:59 pm

Welp maybe you did..........

Who said it had to be glamorous and over priced? Over priced lease's your cup of tea? Im not bad mouthing someone for being better off than the next guy heck im like you I would like to be a millionaire some day too i don't see that happing tho. The rich man attitude sucks IMHO I also think its sad the way duck resources are raped for money today.

Money leads to corruption IMHO. Im sure ya can find some prime examples of that on the net. I didn't mean take money away from conservation but put it some where you know it will do some good! Un-fourtunatly I can't enlitgten you to the point of making that desicion that being said if you think DU will do that for ya go for it!

I just didn't like the eliteist comment! and I wont debate the practices of DU with ya.

Happy Hunting

Stano, I had no idea that I directed an elitist comment to you. Please accept my appology. ANd I hope you don't think that I have a "rich man" attitude. I'm not in a lease, and I don't own any land. I don't have a lot of money, I scrimp and save all of my money so that I can afford to hunt, just like the rest of us.

Anyway, I didn't mean to offend you. Sorry.

Orig. Posted by Wildfowler.

Hell of a post..I second that. Read my take on it at the bottom.

"Here's why I do not get offended by those TV shows. I personally plan to be a mulit-zillionaire one day. I plan on having some really nice things in life. Regardless on whether or not I achieve these goals, nothing is going to stop me from trying to achieve them. Right now, unless I am a guest on private land, if I want to duck hunt. I must hunt on public land. I consider myself to be pretty good at it, just like the rest of you do. And I enjoy it. And because of it, I will be a much better person one day when I get there. Rather than the "rich peepee" that we all know. I like to see those nice places on the TV shows. I look at those places and get inspired to work harder. I get inspired to save more, or to try to make changes in my lifestyle. So that one day, God willing, I can have a nice place of my own to hunt.

And if it doesn't happen, it's ok. I will have the satisfaction of knowing that I tried to make it happen, but just didn't get there. Not everyone does make it. You know what? I only have myself to blame for not trying. We all have opportunities that occur in life that we have to act on for ourselves if we want to achieve anything for ourselves. If we continue to live in and promote such negativity, we will never achieve any of your dreams.

Fellows, I am not trying to make any enemies here. I like the folks I have talked to here. I do not have any ill will towards anyone here. I want the same things in life that you all want. But negativity is unhealthy to me and it won't get me there."

I've only known wildfowler a short time, but consider him a good friend. I can guarantee he is not seeking to piss anyone off. From what I've observed, he doesn't often react without first getting the facts. So many of us, including myself, do react without getting the facts straight. I think this has become a has and has not fight again, du just happens to be in the middle of it. I personally plan to be successful also. I can't wait to be able to own my own piece of land and develop and nurture it. Does that make me a rich a-hole, I don't think so.
Let's get back to some duck talk, the season is near!

P.S. Some of us have no lives.Pointless arguement gives us something to do.Hopefully I'll be well enough to hunt soon.Real huntin-that would be DEER huntin.

The show sucked a big one, talk about some dip hits that can't blow a call.
Yes, I am an a-hole a good bit of the time, but have become pretty good at hiding it.

I'm working on the new call, actually sounds pretty good.

Since you have a bit of free time, why don't you go to "shipland" and scout us out some new holes; I can't stand the early am's anymore.
