I have never used activated carbon clothing but always put at least a little stock in its usefulness. This guy points out some interesting things.

Good article, never used the stuff. Just didn't buy that it would work well enough to justify the cost.

I have always said there is no way you can beat a deer's nose. Your best bet is to play the wind correctly.

Wash with scent free soap and washing powder and that works for me. Very seldom do deer smell me that I know of. I didnt know why but I have been saying that stuff was worthless for years.

Well...that is a very informative and interesting article.

I personally use Scent-Lok. I have lots of Scent-Lok stuff and go to alot of measures to keep it all working and all that stuff. I don't really know what's going on with it, and it maybe the use of the product has raised my awareness to other scent issues before hunting, but I know without doubt that now after using the products all last season and this year that I have no doubt had less deer smell me from a standpoint that the deer is within my immediate area a bust me. I can't atest for deer I never knew where there, nor will i claim to be seeing a ton more deer. HOWEVER, there is no doubt that I have experienced a tremendous change in deer activity when they are in my presence and I can't think of one single time that I have had a deer just blow up and take off like I used to have happen nearly every other hunt, especially in bow season. SO...take it as you will all I know is it's made a noticeable difference in my hunts, be it indirect or direct I don't know? One example I can give was from Saturday afternoon, I had a doe w/ 2 fawns come past me and walked right under me and down through the woods out of sight. This deer came from DIRECTLY down wind and stayed on the downwind side quite a bit. Now, we all know how leery and extra cautions mature does are w/ little ones and I was on public land where they are seriously educated. This doe never knew I was in the world. She was acting her normal cautious self and just strolled on by checking out everything with babies in tow. 2 years ago, that doe smelled me and blew the woods down, I have little doubt....So, take it as you will, I don't know but at worst it nice comfortable quality clothing that provides a certain level of confidence...

Every few years there is a new "miracle" Silver has been it for the last few years, espically in the medical field. Silver coated this and that. Silver impregnated crap. Silver in teh medicine. I don't know how possibly silver could help your hunting but if you have the urge go ahead.

Furthermore, I will say that if you do find my response painful, it’s likely that you spent your hard earned wages on the product that I’m about to scrutinize.

Like I said...I have seen a difference in my hunting since using it. This guy can say what he wants, and that's all good and scientific and I can respect that, however he or nobody else can explain the coincedence of hunters like myself seeing better results from using it? "Well, maybe you are paying better attention to your pre-hunt hygiene" - cause I don't know what else to say...

Heck, I don't know and I don't by any means believe it completely fools a deer, but it can't hurt and I didn't spend that much money on it. No more than I woulda found some other hunting something or another to spend it on...so that arguement is for those that are constantly looking for something to be negative about I think...I mean heck, I make it to spend it...

I use some of the stuff. It was given to me as a Christmas gift. I also think it has helped me out. Maybe I have taken more measures to be scent free since I started using it, maybe not... but I have noticed a difference. One thing about the guys artice is that the carbon used in scent-free clothes is not the same as the activated carbon used in commercial applications. It is activated at much lower temps than the commercial type. If they used the commercial activated carbon, the suits woulkd be upwards of $2000 for a jacket. Have you ever taken a shirt washed in scent-free detergent and worn for a hunt and then taken a "scent-free" jacket that has been activated and worn for a hunt and compared the smell. The non-scent-free stuff smells like sweat and the scent-free stuff doesn't smell at all. I realize that a deer's sense of smell is MUCH better than ours, but don't you think that if we can tell the difference that they surely can too? Anyway, I use it sometimes and sometimes I don't. It depends on if I brought it and where I'm hunting and all that stuff. I know that the jacket and pants I have are really set up for bowhunting with pockets in all the right places, it fits real good and is comfortable. I still think the best plan is to stay downwind and be still, but I definitley think that scent-free stuff works... but to what degree I don't know.

If the companies who make the stuff would pony up and perform some type of scientific tests, they could make a believer out of me. The fact that they have yet to do so, after so many years of making the stuff, instantly makes me very skeptical.
