what about that colored gw outside of greenville. i think his name was something johnson. dumbest sumbitch i ever met. he was relocated somewhere else after he tangled with us. tried to write us a ticket for hunting over a baited field. we were hunting in sunflowers and there were corn cobs, no kernels, on the ground from the last harvest. like a year. rotten almost. he told us that since we were hunnting over more than 1 agricultural crop it was a baited field. anyway, he said they were going to prosecute federally if he had anything to do with it. rotten corn cobs. he was relocated.

negative on the relocation he still is in Greenville! Sure wish he would fall in the river though! I've always gotten along with all the wardens. Except Hugh!!!! They hunt on us and have keys to the camp. They check us from time to time but hey "that's their job" Yes I've had a citation ot two also and got pizzed about everyone of them but I was in the wrong and really expected nothing less. We are still friends and they are doing just their jobs. And big oak I believe you are right this was another hunt. It was in Issaquena co bout 3 years ago on the second weekend of the season. State boys were invited to help us cause the opening weekend got out of our control. The feds were a total suprise but were very nice!

Young guy I know road with Joe Ward one day as part of a mentoring program. They went and had breakfast over at Fighting Bayou. Road around and looked for deer, then Joe said," I guess I need to show you how to right a ticket". Can't rember the circumstances behind the ticket he wrote to the next unfortunate soul, but the youngster said it was complete BS.

Anywho, he's checked me lots and thus far I've dodged his pen, although several of my buds have not! Eh, the doctor?

It was serious chet in Satartia. The one who took the fall was told he WILL NOT hunt migratory birds again which is what he loved the most by the many duck bands on his lanyard (at a dove hunt no less) one other was told he would not deer hunt for some time as well. Sure they have lots of money and it will be interesting to see how it actually pans out in court. You ask how can feds take away deer hunting rights for a native species to Ms??? They make what you did a felony and you can't posess a firearm!!! Feds do not play.

Nope. It is Oliveri. My son and his go to the same school and play baseball together.

I don't know about the guy now, but there was a federal warden based out of New Orleans named Joe Oliveras. Most people referred to him as Mean Joe Oliveras. He retired many years ago. Around 1990 I think. There was very good book written by Marc Reisner called "Game Wars". Several chapters in the book are centerned around his experiences as a federal warden.

I use to hunt south of Monroe, La during the early eighties and Oliveros was out of Monroe. There are many stories about his antics. Once he stopped a father and his 12 years old son and checked them. They had two limits of ducks, proper liscense. Everything seemed in order. Joe then looked at the boy and told him not to look at his father. He then asked him to point out the ducks that he had killed. Of course the son didn't know how to respond. Joe wrote the father up for being over the limit. There is also stories of him hiding underwater in scuba gear watching hunters.
We were hunting in a 1500 acre rice field that was awful walking. Worse gumbo you ever saw. We were set up about as far from the road as you could be. Joe comes walking accross the field to check us. He checked us and everything was legal but the hunt was ruined. He was pretty tired and asked for a ride back. We told him that he had walked out there; he could walk back. One up for Bankermane.
My hunting buddy, an older guy, said that Joe had done to duck hunting what pantyhose had done to finger f#cking. Damn near had cut it out ! !

But, when they check you in the field , during prime time, it can pretty much ruin the hunt, especially if they linger a long time and it is not a quick check situation, but a rummage through all your stuff situation. It does not create a "good feeling" about what they are doing.

When checking waterfowlers, why not wait at least until after mid-morning, or when we are clearly picking up and leaving, to swoop in to do all the checking? A little courtesy both ways will go a long way toward better relations between legal hunters and GWs.
