its true because the president of our hunting club plants all of dixie farms food plots and SUNFLOWER FIELDS. The other reason i know is that the 19 feds came to our camp that morning in two suburbans sp? to question him about it. Everyone hunting got a ticket. it is about three miles south of satartia. Its a bad booty duck hunting place.

Anyone ever been busted by the feds? Let me tell you first hand....it aint fun....they bring the sheriffs and the local greenjeans with them.....its been since 99, but the guy covering this area came out of texas and covered down to florida.....and he wasnt nice....thank god my uncle is a captain in the mdwfp....

word to the wise: dont get caught by the feds...they dont care who you are or how much money you have or how many times you have been to church in your life....

I was at a pay dove hunt once where two undercover feds were hunting with the rest of us. It was a pay hunt that had been advertised and they just showed up the day of the hunt, paid their money and hunted. At the end of the hunt one guy was carrying several peoples doves out of the field on a 4 wheeler and he wrote him up for having over the posession limit even though he witnessed who killed the doves. He had about 75 doves in his posession. The fed shot one dove down himself and a hunter picked it up for him. At the end of the day that hunter had 16 doves and he wrote him up even though the 16th dove was one that the fed had killed. The guy refused to sign the ticket and the fed said that you either sign it or spend the night in jail. What do you do, no one wants to have to call their wife from jail. These guys had to go to federal court and the judje pretty much told them that he would always take the game wardens side. It was a total abuse of power and all they could do was bend over and take it. I lost all respect for federal game wardens after that. Drug dealers go free but heaven forbid if there is one grain of corn in a dove field. All the while they are killing them by the millions in places like Argentina.

One of the many injustices in this life is-- it's all in who you know. The things I've seen w/ game wardens, local and federal, and even federal judges

Well, do what's right and MOST of the time you'll be fine!!

Why should it? The vast majority of hunters manage to abide by the law, and frankly I'm tired of the ones who don't using an "over-eager" warden as justification for breaking those laws. Last time I checked, wardens don't make the laws, they just get paid too little to enforce them. I've hunted the last twenty years in Mississippi, almost all of it on public land with the exception of the last two years. Yet, I've not once had an encounter with a warden that was anything less than professional and almost all were downright friendly. Do I have some sort of moveable force field around me that keeps the evil wardens that are just out to ruin a good ol' boy's day away? It's not hard to count to six ducks or fifteen doves. It's not hard to make sure you're not hunting a baited field. It's not hard to carry out your own ducks or leave wings on 'em or throw back a nine and a half inch crappie or let a spike walk. I would imagine that the vast majority of people on this site have a pretty conservative view of crime. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time and all of that. Well, the idea that that kind of philosophy should apply to everyone but them and every crime but hunting violations offends me as a sportsman. If you can't respect the resource enough to follow the damn laws, then take up golf.

There, I'm offa my soapbox.

guess some would want all laws wiped off the books so they can rewrite them to fit their greed....

Bottomline we all know the rules aka laws....abide by them or risk what happens to blame a person for upholding the law is pure stupid. Laws make a county without laws then we revert back to tribal law...Ya want Me to hand out punishment for breaking My rules. Dont think so...

Df has about 9 members..it is south of Satartia and yes they did get busted. Actually only one of them did..he supposedly spread the seeds without the other members knowledge and owned up to it and took the hit

He was fined 10K and and cannot hunt migratory birds for a year.

That the last I heard of it.

I'll have to say this has been my experience too. Even in my lawless youth, the wardens who chased us across the south delta, were never rude or unprofessional.

One thing I have noticed is that if they know someone is an outlaw, they will use any means to get them. Those are the ones who usually get the seemingly unjust ticket. For instance, they know someone regularly double dips, but can't catch them. That's the guy that's definitely gonna get the ticket when he forgets to sign a stamp as opposed to the next guy who might just get a warning. I'm NOT saying this is always the case, but I have seen it happen.

OK, what about this scenario? The biggest outlaw in the county is the gamewarden's son.......what do they do then?

The answer: absolutely nothing !!!

Naw I admired the man. I have been check at least 4 times by him before he retired. Great guy and took his job to heart.

If we had more like him in the field less of this "if it flies it dies" mentality would not exist.

He was a great warden

Me and Outlaw Josey Wales got "Harrassed" by a fed and two MDWFP officers back in 1987. I thought for sure we were going to Oxford. The Fed was pretty cool with me but he and Outlaw had history. Anyway a word for you who haven't. BE NICE, answer everything yes sir and no sir and if you are legal you shouldn't have any problems.

We border Dixie Farms to the south, and what I was told (the dumbest thing about it) is the fact that they had a perfectly good dove field before they went in and "spiced it up">>there were doves all over it!!
I was suppose to hunt w/ them the next weekend and the hunt obviously got cancelled

Those of you who think the local wardens are nice obviously have never had the pleasure of running up on that red headed sucker up in Quitman County. I heard he was a real ............! :P

Most of the time game wardens are honest good ole boys that work too hard for too little. However those entrapping bastards in bigoaks story should be whipped. One thing to ticket someone for being illegal but it is another to ticket someone for helping out fellow hunters. Prciks.
