Boat ramps

Postby Duxnbux » Tue Oct 01, 2002 1:10 pm

I want to know if there are any boat ramps or access to the Coldwater river between I-55 and HWY 78. Also, is there any access or ramps to the Mississippi river between Walls and Tunica. Thanks

Lots, just on private land. Don't think that you could boat from 78 to 55. When the river runs into the canal, there are some places you have to drag your boat across the shallow water. Lots of work when the water is low. Too dangerous when the water is the right depth due to current. I've done it before from 305 on.

Bass Landing is directly west of walls. That is where I launch when I go out on the big muddy. If I am not mistaken you can launch at that place in tunica called Mhoon landing. It is where the original casino "splash" was. Now I am not sure about that one and its accessability to the public, but it seems like I have heard mention of being able to launch a boat there. I do know that it is on the way to Tunica cutoff because when I have gone to the lake in the past I have seen a sign. I don't think there is any access to coldwater river past 51 landing. when the water is up due to a recent heavy rain you can go WAY up the river, but past a certain point the land on both sides becomes posted...and that's another can of worms I don't care to open.

I have thought about putting the old Kodiak under the knife many times, but I just can't bring myself to start hacking on my plastic. :D
