Federal Stamps and the USPS

Postby Wingman » Thu Sep 26, 2002 5:25 pm

It's a cryin' shame when you go to the post office and they don't even have any Federal Stamps. And then, they call around and none of the local post offices have any either. Buncha government crap.

Got mine the other day. The lady accidently gave me two. Before I took a step my conscience said "give it back!". The only thing I could do with another is give it to a friend. Honesty is the best policy. I'm glad I didn't walk out with that Stamp!

Went to Wal mart the other day to get some things and decided to get my state stamp while there. The clerk behind the counter wanted to know if I wanted the Federal stamp also. Of course I do. Maybe I've been under a rock but when did Walmart start selling the fed stamp? :?:

Timberjack, they've been selling them for years! I always used to buy my nonresident licenses there in Louisville when I'd come through on my Christmas trip home, and I used to always pick up my Federal stamp there, too. I got burned one time when they were out and it was a weekend and I couldn't get to a post office for two days (lost two days of hunting, too)! Now I get my federal stamp here, and get my MS state stamp and license via internet. Gotta love it! How's everything in Evergreen? I drove through back in early summer going to see kin farther on down 25, cut down by the old place just to reminisce a bit. I was also back there when Mom was ill a couple of months or so ago, but stayed mostly in Jackson or at the hospital there. I am going to be back for a weekend either next weekend or the next. Hopefully, one of these trips we can get together for a cup of coffee or something. You boys gettin' "uptown" with a bonified coffee shop on mainstreet. Stopped in there one day while I was running around and they are good folks there...never let your cup get empty. Tell everyone I said "hello." That was the weekend they had the biker rally in Sturgis, MS. Funny to see all those Harleys in Louisville!

Good Grief Wingman you live in Isola, MS

The Post office is the size of shoebox. :lol:

It is the responsibility of the PostMaster to order the Stamps and they think about it the first time someone ask.

Bottom line is that the Postal Service does not make one cent from the sell of these stamps and the only reason they are sold in the PO to begin with is that congress said "Hey let the PO sell them since almost every town has one" Thus like many things in the Government, additional requirements were set on the PO to manage another Gov. function and gain nothing but criticism because of it.

Funny I walked right into the PO in Jackson and bought a Federal Stamp. :oops:

Yeah Crow, we're still alive and well. Evergreen is a little soggy today but we'll dry out and be back to normal. We ended up gettin' about 9 inches. I'll tell everyone you said hello. The wife says your mother and Mr. Bradford have both been under the weather, hope they're doing better. Come see us when you can....... :)

Don't be doggin' my post office, Duckmen! If you think Isola's is small, you ought to see the one in Silver City where I used to live. Lots of Star Wars and G.I. Joe men came to box 227 in Silver City when I was a wee lad.

Judge, what are you smokin'? They don't carry hushpuppy mix....they do ribs in the back...it's the PD that does the hushpuppies.

a little buttermilk with that special mix with a smiling catfish on the label made some super good push-huppies....... must be these new discount cigarettes i bought from Columbia.....

just wish i lived in the Cat-Fish capitol of the world..... so much better than the fish out of Hatchie River.....{we may have the best Moonshine but we lack in good fish}

Ya'll have a PD ? what about a fire dept.? Ya'll may be a bigger town than i think..... enjoy your small town and never wish for growth.....

sure am fish hungry.......
