If it happens, all the smaller sporting goods stores are going to be in trouble, and bass pro will take a hit also.

Gotta agree with 22 here. With their selection, prices, and customer service, I don't think many will be able to keep up. In my LTHO, Cabela's is an outstanding operation.

Wow, that is interesting news if it is true. I really don't feel like looking up the information, but is there a place where these two are this close to each other?

Louisiana.

There is a Bass Pro in Bossier City. They are also building a Bass Pro in Denham Springs, and there is a Cabela's being built in Gonzales.

Other than the fish in da tank, bass pro in j-town sux. customer service sux. I was in there the other day and the gentleman in the boat dept. did not even know what transducers were. The eats at the islamarado grill taste like road kill also. I will not be going back.

we have a huge BPS in Dallas and a huge Cabelas as well.....and a Sportmans Warehouse and a then a Gander Mountain near Corsicana. Both the BPS and Cabelas have gun rooms with fine Parkers, etc...

None have the personal touch like a family owned business. I would buy at a Mean Mallard over those stores on any given day. The only one that comes close to hitting on service is Sportsmans Warehouse.

Cabella's is NOT coming to Madison....one of the criteria for building a new Cabella's outlet is having 1 million people within a 30 square mile radius....at least this is what I got off their website...

Heck, I do most of my shopping with Rocky at the Outfitter when I can. They always remember me, and I live 3 hours south. MM is fine when I can deal directly with Chris. I hate that goofy Bass Pro Shop. Cabelas would kill everything.
