I have a Garmin Etrex Legend and I like it alot, my dad wants a H2O for marking fishing spots since he doesnt duck hunt and he likes the color screen and wide screen b/c he cant seem to see very well on my small screen so I am gonna buy it for his b-day if I can find one at a good price.

I have an Etrex Legend myself and love it. My previous unit was a Garmin GPS 12 which I still have and use. The Etrex is much smaller and easier to handle.

i agree with stockbroker. get the gpsmap series, but the 60 series is the old one. the new ones are gpsmap 76. i would get the 76cx. very easy to use and understand. they are a lil bit more bulky than the etrex but have so many more options

I have the Vista and like it. However, I have had trouble with the joystick -- had to take it apart and play electrician to get it to work again. A little research showed that this was a common problem. I would get one of the 60 or 76 models, if I were you.

They all pretty much do the same basic tricks, so they all kinda work alike. Ya gotta RTFM (read the . . . fine . . . manual) on any of 'em.
I prefer Magellans over Garmins. Everytime we do a side-by-side comparison, Magellans locate and orient themselves faster than Garmins.

I have a magellan"meridian gold".I also have the topo software for it,if you decide to get a magellen just let me know.I would gladly send you copy of topo, that would save you about 150 dollars for that.Never had a garmin, did have a lowrance once and liked it.My advice is to get one that floats, that is why i no longer have a lowrance,it didn't float!
