Duck call question
Got an old double-reed custom made wooden call. Sounds great but it won't blow long without sticking. Anyone got any suggestions on what to use on the reeds to keep 'em from sticking?

I use Carmex, the lip stuff, to wax the reeds. I usually keep a little in my shell box for those chapped lips during the winter. Some guys swear by Johnson's Wax, the household type, but I have had good luck with the Carmex. Alot cheaper, too. Take the reeds out, coat them good and then wipe them off (but not too much). While you are at it, do the same to the tone channel as well. This will bead off the moisture.
That said, try to call more from your stomach than your mouth. This time of year is a good time to start. When you feel your stomach muscles flex, then you know you are bringing it up from your diaphram. Most people when starting blow more from thier mouth, and this forces saliva into the call.
The dollar bill trick works too.
