draft question
draft question
If the draft is re-instated, do ya think women should be included?
I'm not sure about this one.
I know women already fill many non-combat positions in the armed forces, and since they enjoy equal rights before the law, it seems like it would only be fair. Ironically, if this were to come up, I bet the equal-rights feminists would be fighting to stay out of the draft. What do ya'll think?

First, I am not one of those folks who think women are inferior. Fact is, in most areas, I think women are superior and demonstrate more character and fortitude than men. I have taught my daughter to be independent, strong willed, and persistent.
But, I have been to war. I have seen the ugliness that it is. There is not way in Hell that any woman should ever be a frontline soldier. I has nothing to do with their abilities; it has everything to do with what war is and how I think of women. I cannot fathom the two together, nor do I want to.

right on gator and the man you quoted was a man of honor and i bet he would feel the same way.
i think there are some areas women used to serve in that they could today plus some new areas like technology or behind the scenes type work, but to the fair is fair folks,
life aint fair and the quicker our culture realizes it and deals with it, the better off we would be. In my book, honor and character and chilvary are much nore important than fair.
I vote no to women on the line by demand. If they volunteer and proove they can do it with out jepordizing the rest, then you go girl.

to fill admin and rear support posistions yes, By rear I mean not Base Camp but in those areas far removed from the actual battle grounds. Like Crow I've seen and smelled it real close and its not something a mother or future mother should ever experience. Heck I worry about skillet's in the Bedroom, I don't want the wife to know how to rig mechcanical ambushes.
Men can't give birth so women should not have go to war.. Just my .02 cents.

Interesting question. I say no to front lines combat for sure. I have no problem with behind the scenes computer stuff like mentioned before.
BUT if a woman is ready an willing to die for our country I say go ahead and do it sister . . . hell I'm afraid of a lot of women out there, they would surely kick my ass any given day!

rethinking this...I've heard so much anti-war crap from so many Men that I'm beggining to think if the draft was ever started again the only ones showing up at the induction centers would be women.
Its a sad affair when you hear a 18 year old Say " I aint going to risk nothing defending some other country in a war or Why should I risk My life defending this county if I dont agree with the reasons.
I registered once for the draft and won. Its not everyday you can win a Lottery
