A question for discussion...If Powe was not an excellent athlete, would he have a chance of getting in Ole Miss or State or Southern?

Not a chance in Hades!

My beef is that athletes deserve some accomodation, but not total exception to all the rules. I don't know all of this story, admittedly. But, if he progressed through two years of Junior College and had the necessary credits and had the ACT score, he should be admitted. If he didn't, he should not be admitted.

I know the boy ain't all that smart, though...he did choose to go to Ole Miss, after all! :D

actually Crow, the admissions policy for all the schools you named are lower than the NCAA standards due to the Ayers cases. So, to sum it up, Powe would be admitted at any of the schools you mentioned, and those schools would have no choice due to the court order and ADA. Also, if Powe was not a student athlete, certain people would not have whined to their NCAA friends about him, so his case would have never been reviewed by the clearinghouse, he would've just gone before the admissions board at those said schools, and there would be a 99% chance he would be cleared.

by the way, there is a player with similar grades at your beloved LSU, the only problem is, LSU's admission requirements are higher than that of Ole Miss...... wonder how he got in ? :lol:

I am saying that IF HE WERE NOT an athlete, he would probbaly not even TRY to go to college, BUT since it is the "breeding grounds" for the NFL, he wants in to make the big bucks. :roll: Or is it his Mammy that wants him to make the big paycheck that he CAN NOT even read! :lol:

Well all I have to say as an Ole Miss fan and alumni - I really don't give a dam* if Powe can read or not. All I care is if he can learn the plays at Ole Miss and kill opposing QB's and RB's. He is not the first and will not be the last college football player that can't read. But he will be a Rebel and he will be he** on a football field. Sorry guys Coach O out recruited everyone again.
