Official Prediction: Ole Miss v. Memphis

Postby Deltamud77 » Mon Aug 28, 2006 2:25 pm

Ole Miss should be a better team than last year with better QB play and a solid defense with an improved running game. Memphis, on the otherhand, lost their best player, and as a result, have had to essentially retool their offense. Joe Lee Dunn is running the defense, therefore look for huge offensive plays.

I think the spread is -3 for Ole Miss. If I was a gambler I would put money on this one.

Ole Miss wins 31-13. (Ole Miss false sense of confidence goes through the roof)

By the way, Memphis will be horrible this year.

as a Rebel fan, I agree 100% with your post...

I can't possibly see how Memphis can be worth a crap with year? Regardless of Ole Miss in this game, Memphis is gonna SUCK...

I don't know. Memphis will have a good passing QB and some good receivers. While Memphis only has one good RB returning, they primarily run just a one back set. If the Reb D can win the battle with the Memphis OL on the line of scrimmage and get pressure on the Memphis QB, then UM should be able to contain the Memphis passing game with our experienced DBs and LBs and keep Memphis in check. But, if we can't get pressure, then Memphis will stay in this game.

I think the UM offense will fare well against the Memphis D. Getting off to a good start on offense and getting some early points for confidence will be critical for the young talented Rebs. If this happens, then the Rebs should slowly pull away further and further from Memphis as the game goes on. We should have an advantage in quality depth v Memphis (one of the few games on the schedule this will be true).

I see UM winning 35-17, with the game being fairly tight in the first half.

One thing to consider - Ole Miss is 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 games against Memphis. This one is warranting serious consideration for a Pick of the Week.

already put the money down

Miss -3
South Carolina -6.5
California +1.5

get these early Miss will go off higher than a field goal come Sunday, South Carolina will likely push ahead of a touchdown before Thursday and watch for the California line to flip flop and they will be the favorite by game time

So this is the "Battle of the Fence" The winning team builds a fence around Memphis only to have the natives cut holes in it and steal your car stereo.

I'm acutally hoping Ole Miss bitchslaps them, they done got too uppity in Memphis over that mighty impressive win over Acorn in Detroit.

I recall reading that Cal's starting (and returning) QB is being held-out of the first few games for disciplinary reasons. You may want to check it out.

Cal has plenty of talent at QB the one you are referring to is out for disciplinayr reasons, but was not the starter last year until Longshore ended his season with a knee injury

Longshore is healthy and from what reports say that isnt really enough as there was expected to competition for the position in camp..all indications are that it is still undecided,a s to who will start...but not betting on the QB

too much talent on both sides of the ball QB wont really be a huge factor for this team

Thanx for the comment though
