Read before buying ammo at ?????

Postby RobertM » Thu Sep 05, 2002 12:34 pm

Hudson's in ridgeland has a lot of ammo right now. It's at very good prices. Being that it's at Hudson's, you wouldn't expect it to be great stuff. Has probably been passed hands multiple times, been in a fire, changed temps drastically...anyway, you aren't buying first quality premium stuff but you would know that as you're paying for it.... no big deal.
I went over at lunch, a certain gun dealer was in there buying buggy loads of it. I'm telling you, buggy loads. Which he will be carrying back over to his store to sell at PREMIUM PRICES. Now if you go to his store, do you want to purchase product what just came from his distributor? Or do you want SALVAGE AMMO that HUDSON's gave him a deal on???????????

I won't be patronizing Haselhoff's on hwy 51 any longer.

Some may think this behavior is acceptable. He had a box of ammo I wanted last week. Because it was the grain and bullet I wanted. I bought it. I paid double what I would have paid at Walmart IF they had the ammo. But being that they didn't, I bought it anyway. Now I see the SOB at Hudson's buying their junk to pass on. It just set really wrong with me. I'm through venting now..

No, I don't think it is right for him to do that, But Hudson's doesn't know him from anyone else to prevent something like this from happening. Maybe, people will see this and not go buy it and he will get stuck with all of it. I really thought you were talking about Jeff Speed. I've seen him do the same thing on other Items at different stores. If he only knew how bad the kids that work for him were scaming from him he would really evaluate his employees. I have bought stuff from MM REALLY CHEAP (not sure if jeff knows or not) I just paid what they told me I owed.

A coworker called Hudsons and they said they didn't care basically, they are just selling their product and making their money. You know, I really didn't have a problem with it until I began thinking about it. He was holding up others who were going to buy just a few boxes while he got all his stuff. Not once did he say go ahead and help those other guys. He is a small businessman, he knows the faces that come into his store, I've been in there numerous times and he didn't even bother to speak to me or any of the other guys waiting.

Now Jeff Speed seems to be a nice guy. He always speaks and is very friendly when I go in there. Jeff himself cuts me a deal quite often. And he always speaks and shakes my hand when he sees me in public. That makes me continue to shop with him.
His employess at MM generally are pathetic. They are kids who like you said are ripping him a new one everyday by giving his stuff away. And they dont speak to customers, some of them act like they are too good too. By acting like that, they are screwing him out of sales.

it's called free enterprise, and they make a buck from the ground up.... just don't trade with them any more.... if you really want to know who the sharks are, just go to your county court and spend a day..... after all, BUYER BEWARE.......... if they price it and you buy it, you just cut yourself a deal.... all of you would be amazed at transactions that go on..... shop carefully......

"I really thought you were talking about Jeff Speed. I've seen him do the same thing on other Items at different stores. "

Redhead - To the best of my knowledge (and I know for a fact), Jeff has established relationships with direct sales reps and manufacturer's reps for the products that he sells. I don't think that he goes bargain hunting for products at other stores so he can mark them up. I wouldn't put it past him though to go buy something from another dealer at a loss in order to keep a promise to a customer (in the event that he can't order a sold out item).

He has always been concerned about service - that's why I deal with him directly AND he always has time for me.

As far as the bargain shopping goes, why don't you give a specific example? I am curious to see what item it was.

Speed has always done right by me. Taken things back without batting an eye and offering to ship to Biloxi to keep me from having to wait till the next time I was in town to do an exchange. He ain't cheap, but I think he is pretty honest. I do get amazed by some of the smack I hear those kids in there say sometimes, though.

Kids are kids..they don't grow up till they're....well, I haven't made it that far yet. Jeff IS a nice guy, as far as I know. I was in two of his calling contests, and he has cut me deals and let me put brochures on his counter. You can't make everybody happy...ask me, I know ;)

I THINK I'LL STICK TO VAN'S, THEY'RE JUST DOWN TO EARTH,GOOD ON COUNTRY PEOPLE LIKE ME, AND THEY DON'T STICK THEIR NOSE UP IN THE AIR WHEN I WALK IN.THEY MAY NOT HAVE AS MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM, BUT IF YOU NEED IT THEY'LL GET IT. THE SERVICE AT MM IS NO COMPARISON TO WHAT YOU GET AT VAN'S.
