Good News for LSU

Postby Deltamud77 » Thu Aug 24, 2006 1:49 pm

Five Star running back Keiland Williams was cleared to play by the NCAA Clearinghouse today. He will add much needed depth to a weak spot on the LSU team.

Here is the roster info on Keiland for anyone interested. As a side note, he was real close to going to Ole Miss around signing day.

Keiland is definitely a player.... was thought by alot of coaches as the # 1 tailback in the nation last year..... he's good, real good, congrats to him for getting himself qualified

word on Powe is that he is getting screwed to death by the something somewhere....seems awefully ironic to me that the kids that obviously need the most classroom work, b/c they aren't the best students to begin with, are the ones reviewed past the enrollment and then are forced to start school later, like they can afford to miss classtime??? WTF????

Word on the street is that if they are not cleared by tomorrow afternoon, they will not be cleared for the year...don't know if that is true though. LSU still has one to be cleared too.

not technically, however, the issue stands with many schools that the last day to register for classes is coming up this week, i know at Ole Miss it is, not sure as far as exact dates at others. If they aren't cleared this friday (the one day this week the Clearinghouse meets), they their case would not be heard until next friday, therefore deeming them academically ineligible for the year at many schools, as next friday is the last day to register for classes. In MOST situations, as the Clearinghouse meets on fridays, the players/schools are somtimes notified on that friday or that weekend, but normally it is the following monday. So, if a player was approved next friday (the last day to register for classes at Ole Miss) he would likely not know it until the following monday, making it too late to register for classes. That's how it's worked for a while now, and it's only a matter of time before it turns out to bite the Clearinghouse in the ass......

again, like i said in a previous post.... those who decide at the Clearinghouse meet once per week.... so, if someone is left out, they are just left out and there's really nothing that can be done. Not even pertaining to Jerrell Powe, there are many student athletes annually who are denied access to an NCAA school simply because their case was not heard in time to register for classes at that said school. In most cases, the players sit out a semester, and are likely either approved/denied in the semester they sit out. If they are denied, they can correct the classes which they are denied in, and generally enroll the following semester, whether initially approved or denied.
