P.S. Olt

I just read that P.S. Olt Company of Pekin, Illnois has closed its doors after nearly 100 years. I have a goose call or two made by them and there have been good calls. What do you all think? Do any of you have any of their calls? Jack

i grew up on Olt and Lohman wooden calls..... thought they were the only ones.......haha... i have crow calls by each still in the box......both came from a western auto in Walnut Ms... the only source of huntin gear in the late 60's..... ain't time changing ???? the olt was a buck 75 and the lohman was a buck and a quarter... a 45 rpm record was available for an additional dollar.... look for e-bay to capitalize on this closure.....

'Kinda sad when a company like that, with alot of waterfowling history goes 'under'. I'm just glad a friend picked-up a couple o' calls from Kendall Saltzman for me (last year), before they ran outa parts.

'Have those two calls and a old-style D-2 (modified).

The D-2's are not as easy to learn on. I suspect that the easier blowing calls are more popular with folks that don't spend a lot of time learning how to manipulate a single-reed call, therefore they occupy a larger share of the market.

P.S.Olt, Herter's, Evinrude......... that's like Jimmy Robinson dying...........'wonder who's next?
