Need some weed killin advice....

Postby HARLEY » Tue Sep 03, 2002 9:27 pm

I figured with the large amount of farming experiance on this board I would ask this here. I got this weed in my yard called "Nutsedge" and so far I cant find anything that will kill it without harming the bermuda. MSMA will only burn the leaves off then it comes right back. Roundup works but it leaves a dead spot in the yard that takes weeks to grow back. :?:

Wingman has the right idea, but if you want to take the lazy way out you can use 1oz of Permit. It is made by Monsanto and will not kill the bermuda grass.

Pull and bag that "nutsedge" and sell it on a corner on Brooks Rd. Tell em its a new variety of that Memfrica weed. Then you can bust em, confiscate the weed and resell. Ain't you learned nothing yet?
Believe it or not Earl spent Sunday thru Monday noon at the camp. Can't believe he got away so long. 8)

Talked to him yesterday, couldnt believe it myself. Hopefully his hall pass will extend through January. I kinda miss killin them big deer behind the levee. Offered him several times last year to duck hunt with us in the morning and deer hunt the afternoon. Oh well, when is the stag banquet this year, seems like it should be coming up soon?

i ain't no expert, but if your area isn't too large, stretch black plastic over the area and let this hot Sept. sun do its business... the bermuda will live but the other should die..... only takes a few days...... but there is bound to be a chemical that will work....contac your county extention sevice for advice.... should be under the white pages.... good luck.....

if it is too closely related to the narrow leaf grasses it may be hard to kill one without the others..... i think i haven't told you anything....haha.....

Thanks for all the help, got some MANAGE from one of my buddies at the golf course. He gave me enough to mix up a gallon. Almost passed out when he told me how much that stuff costs. Sometimes I guess it pays to have friends in the right places. He showed me a bottle about the size of a Tylenol container said it costs right a hundred bucks!
