I think the highest score you can make on the ACT is a 36, or at least that was the limit when I was taking it, not that I approached the limit.

Yep, that's why I was wondering how he made a 39 or 40 on it? I didn't knock the ACT out of the park either.

The NFL's equivalent of the drivers exam...and Prather made a flippin' 10! It's basically a test to determine how much sense they got...

And go figure the only one to get a 50 on it was a punter. How much sense do you need to punt???

Some rumored, but unconfirmed, scores of other NFL players and draft candidates:

Explain, again, why this is such a HUGE deal to you. I think we get the picture -- SEC football players aren't the brightest. Did Pig lie to you in a bar one night about his Wonderlic test scores or something -- why so bitter? :D

Really just joking -- but I think this thread has gone about 15 posts too deep (and I have helped).

I think we all as tax payers should be up in arms about this. Yes, these "athletes" do make a lot of money for the school's, but it is us as tax payers that end up paying for it later; either in the welfare line, unemployment line or chow line at the state prison, we end up having to foot the bill for these "athletes" that could not make it at the pro level. Also, these are state/federally funded universities, so it is our tax dollars that are paying for their free "education"! Yes, the university brings in money as well as cooperate donations to help fund these scholarships as well, but our tax dollars are being used too. Do not get me wrong, I am not complaining about my tax dollars, what I am complaining about is our lack of concentration on what these students are "supposed" to be in college for and that is a TRUE education! I am not sure what the actually ratio for college to pro athlete is, but I am sure it is small.

What aggravates me the most is Johnny Joe with a 3.0 high school GPA with average to above average income parents will end up having to take a student loan to get an education, but idiot Levon Johnson who can run like the wind, but can't tell what direction the wind is coming from will get a free ride and will still not know how to tell what direction the wind is coming from once he gets out of college.

I would really like to see a study done of college athletes that did not make the pro ranks and what they are doing now with their "education". I want to see the difference in white student athletes and black student athletes.

Also, of those student athletes, how many of the white student athletes went on to graduate and how many of the black student athletes did not. That will also show just WHO is actually at a university/school of higher learning to learn.

I think we all know a ball park figure of what the results would be, but I really would like to see the numbers on this.

Drakeshead the money you say we are wasting is only a drop in the bucket compared to the money wasted on pell grants to kids who go to school for two-three years and never graduate...and they often don't contribute squat to the school except "cultural diversity"....not a touchdown or nothin. If unsuccessful athletes are all we had to support in this country, we would have it made.

I have to agree with you 100%. When my wife was taking courses at Hinds CC, once the “day”came where you could drop classes and not have to pay back your financial aide money, the line was over a two hour wait!

I guess my point is that more and more the focus of higher education and those that have the opportunity to achieve a higher education do not use that opportunity and I see it throughout our society as a whole. I see fewer and fewer kids these days jumping up and down about good grades and making something of them. No, I was not one of those kids either, but hide site is 20/20.
