Ted Nugent
Ted Nugent
Ted Nugent said something that made good sense to me last night on the Oudoor Channel, and I just wanted to share it with everyone. He was tagging a deer as soon as he shot it, because that was the law in Texas. He said, I am asking fellow hunters to obey all laws because everytime we break a law some punk in the media gets his hands on it, and turns it into bad publicity for hunters. That is very true, our conservation efforts don't get reported, but the violations sure as hell do. He is right, and it is terrible publicity for the entire hunting community when a violation gets reported, not just that hunter. Dove season always brings a ton of violations that bring a ton of bad publicity. I just thought everyone should hear that before we get started. Go ahead Ted.

About 7 years ago I busted 2 PETA members at the downtown Macy's in Houston. We had received bulletins to be on the lookout for them attempting to ruin, paint, scar fur coats. During the processing of the two one of them noticed my duck mounts and photos on my office wall. The thing that struck me most was the fact that one of them (24 yr. old white male) said that he used to hunt with his Dad and Grandfather. He went on to say that he remembered killing literally hundreds of doves and shooting deer at night out of season in South Texas. He also said that he got to drive the truck because his Dad and Grandfather were drinking and shooting. Makes you wonder how he ended up huggin bunnies
I am all for Ted Nugent. Ya'll have to realize that he has received major death threats and threats against his lands and family because of his strong stances and views. He his a true American standing for his rights.

I agree totally that all laws and rules should be followed, but..............
It apears to me the government has gone a bit too far with some of thier requirements as of late : The Hunters Report Card.
Granted the intentions are well placed: game harvest numbers, game estimations, etc. But (as of next year)
Problems:
1. Private landowners. Although they are exempt, they could be harrassed when transporting game from thier property to another location.
2. The 24 hour rule. With out a physical check in system, this rule is impossible to inforce. Everyone has 24 hours to comply, so if you are not met by a game warden on the way out, no one will know the diffrence.
3. Honest Hunters Paying The Price. An outlaw hunter is not going to curve his unlawfulness because of a new rule of law. Do they think he will comply? The only ones who will are those of us who followed the rules before and will follow the rules now. More crap for me to keep up with, and at my tax dollor expense.
Just My View On The Matter.

Ted Nugent and his "Spirit of the Wild"
BWAAAAAHHHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
At first I enjoyed his show, until the day that he was hunting deer in south texas. They had a feeder in a 6 X 8 cage with the door open. Ted could've taken this buck at anytime, but waited till the deer walked inside the fence, and shot him with his head in the feeder. And then he talks about the spirit of the wild and how thrilling that hunt was, what a crock???
I really like what he's doing for hunters, but he can go too far at times.

Mississippi is one of the last states in the union that baiting is illegal . Most people are used to deer hunting like that. That doesn't make it right. I personally don't think that is a very challenging way to hunt, but almost all states allow it now. We are not used to that in Mississippi though, and I hope it is never made legal here. Ted Nugent has done a lot more than I have to give hunting a positive image across the country. He is letting people that don't know anything about hunting realize that hunters are the country's leading conservationists.
After living in Texas and hunting with Feeders, I can say that I would much rather have the feeders vs allowing hunting with Dogs. Miss. is one of the last states allowing dogs use with Deer hunting. The use of dogs is creating huge problems with poaching. The "great" deer hunters in Tallahatchie county simply park on the side of the road and wait for their dogs to push the deer off private proporty over the road where they "hunt"?? Now that is hunting!!

bear, I personally like deer hunting with dogs. If I couldn't use dogs, then deer hunting would be boring as hell if I could only stillhunt. The biggest deer I've ever taken had a pack of beagles right on his tail, so you have to understand why I like dogs. I'm from Tallahatchie Co. so I know what you're talking about. A good bit of that hunting is on private roads from the use of a truck, some of it is from public roads, which is wrong. We had a new gamewarden that came into the county last season and broke up a good bit of that hunting from trucks on public roads, most cases involved them walking from their lease back to the truck without unloading their gun. The majority of them use CB's to keep track of the dogs and try to cut them off before they go on someone else's property. Bad thing about dogs though, they can't read "Posted-Private Property" signs.

I too have seen ted's show on the outdoor channel. He needs to stick to singing. Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate what he stands for, and all that, but he is just too wacko. ANYONE and I mean ANYONE can do what he does, he is nothing special. I don't think he has ever had to go out and actually "hunt". Everything is done for him prior to his arrival. I am sorry, but all his antics and the things he does for show are just what we don't need. He almost comes on as a sadistic, bloodthirsty madman. Riding that buffalo out on stage trying to prove his prowess, is an example of the kinds of things that there are just no need for. Trying to show off that he is the superior being and he has "conquered" if you will, this monstrous beast does absolutely nothing for me.
