Beavers on top

Postby FnW man » Tue Jun 27, 2006 7:20 am

of the world of college baseball, that is.

Congrats to Oregon for the win(s), but I really wish UNC could have played better. They really made some stupid mistakes in the last 2 games.

Oh well, maybe next year.....or not

UNC had two great chances to score late and blew both of them.

The steal home was a good play. Nobody was expecting it. Props to the catcher for hanging onto the ball too.

The routine throw to first was a bomb. I wasn't happy with the first baseman. He didn't appear to move any. Watched the game and other plays you can see he'd stretch out even if he didn't have to.

OSU pitching came around like true winners. NC had the "better" bull pen, but better isn't always best.

In a pitchers game like it was, it comes down to errors and mistakes. NC had poor base running. The run to home was right, but what was the guy on second thinking? Close game like that you have to play small ball.

Personally, I was pulling for Rice. Then when Rice lost out, I started pulling for OSU simply because they had to beat NC twice to reign champions.

i hated to see the outcome of that game, i really wanted a southern team to win, just have more props in the south, but oh well, the south was well represented there without a doubt and it seems to be that way every year.........congrats to any beavers out there.........
If it wasn't for bad luck then i would have no luck at all........

Folks, if the Oregon State Beavers can win a national title in college baseball, so can the Mississippi teams. It is long past time for all the excuses --- along the lines of "we are just small schools in a poor state" yada yada yada --- "other states have scholarship programs we do not have" ---blah blah blah ---to be deep sixed. We have everything we need right here at home. All we really need is more commitment to the programs by the respective schools ---a commitment to be the best.

More commitment means more money on facilities, higher expectations for the programs, and upgrading coaching staffs when warranted.

That was painful to watch as far as for a team to loose on such a routine play, that second baseman is going to know how Bill Buckner feels from day to day. What a way to loose a championship. HOwever that being said, UNC stranded way too many runners in scoring position. THey also really squandered some chances against OSU's starter. THey really had him on the edge and piss poor baserunning allowed them to get out of teh innning. You do have to hand it to OSU, they made the plays when they had to, it was a great game to watch up until the throwing error.
