Wells withdraws from LSU job
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Alabama baseball coach Jim Wells said Friday he was removing his name from consideration for the LSU job and will remain with the Crimson Tide.

"We are staying here," Wells told The Tuscaloosa News in an interview published on its Web site. "That has been my main interest all along."

Wells, 51, was considered a leading candidate for the LSU vacancy after Ray "Smoke" Laval resigned following the Southeastern Conference tournament. Wells is a good friend of LSU athletic director Skip Bertman, the Bengal Tigers' longtime baseball coach.

Wells became Alabama's winningest coach this year during a 44-20 season that included a share of the Southeastern Conference championship and a trip to the NCAA Super Regionals. Wells has a career record of 522-246 at Alabama, including three trips to the College World Series.

I knew he wasn't, and here is why. He's under very little pressure at Bama. He's been winning the same number of games in recent years as LSU has, and possible more in some years. If Bama makes it to a SR or the CWS, their fans are estatic and celebrate. If LSU doesn't win the CWS every year, the coach is a no good sob.

It's all about job security, and there is none in the city of Baton Rouge.

ok, heres my point of veiw, im a coach, im prolly not a very good one, but thats neither here or there, i bleed crimson and white even though i leave in the great city of starkville.........now, put me in his position, go back and coach where i played, have the great and i do mean great recruiting capables that lsu has, and the past, and a solid chance to ensure the future......hell, buy a plane ticket and im there........now this doesnt apply to bianco because as many others on here have learned i have also learned, if the female isnt happy, aint no one gonna be happy, and although ms biancos family lives and is from the heart of baton rouge, she didnt wanta leave oxford, so i figured he wasnt leaving, and prolly, ms wells didnt wanta leave ttown either, just neither have the balls to admit it, which i dont blame them cause i wouldnt come out and say my wife likes it here and she wears the pants in this family, i just borrow them from time to time..........
If it wasn't for bad luck then i would have no luck at all........

All of the five SEC coaches who have recently turned down LSU probably need to send Bertman a thank you gift because Bertman probably helped each get a big raise and contract extension.
