Glad for Cogs. But, we can kiss him goodbye, as far as next season. He is for sure gone. Per the Spirit website, Cogs draft selection is the highest all time for any Rebel. I thought he would go pretty high, but not this high.

Why I know this I don't know, but I'm pretty sure the Spirit is incorrect.

You remember a pitcher by the name of Jamie Price. He pitched in the late 90's at UM and was a hoss. He was the 7th overall pick in that year's draft.

And if I'm wrong.........dadgummit I'll admit it.

Ole Miss Junior Third Baseman Chris Coghlan On Being Drafted With The
36th Pick By The Florida Marlins:

"I'm very excited about being drafted, and to be selected in the
supplemental first round is a tremendous honor. It's the sort of
thing you dream about as a player. Certainly this is a great
opportunity and gives me something to think about, but we have a
great opportunity in front of us this weekend with Miami coming to
Oxford for a Super Regional. Our goal all season has been to host a
Regional, a Super Regional and to advance to Omaha. That's what is
ahead of us right now as a team, and that's where my focus is right now."

* Coghlan's selection as the 36th pick is the highest drafted Rebel
player since Major League Baseball began making draft selection
orders public. Michael Rosamond was the 42nd
pick in the 1999 MLB Draft.

Jeff, I DO remember Jamey Price very well. He was only the best COLLEGE pitcher to ever wear the red and blue at UM. And per the info above, you are probably correct. Cogs would be the highest taken in quite a while.
