No offense cam but Warren Morris sucked. He made the team for one reason politics and politics only. I know that for a fact first hand. Todd Walker on the other hand was an all-american for a reason, he was a great ball player.

Todd Walker was without a doubt the better ballplayer, all together...but Warren Morris is/was playing in the bigs...Daddy boy's might make college rosters though influence & politcs, but they don't make major league rosters. Now I'm not argueing with you about his career, he never did shat and Todd Walker was the better player no doubt, but Morris had the potential, it wasn't a fluke that he was at LSU and hit that HR.

Another thing, players that make it on teams through politics & influence get the education, they get to prance around in the uniform and play some ball, but don't get put in the situation Warren Morris was put in at Omaha...

They do when the recruit that should have been playing in that position quit because some ass clown got the start over him. Trust me Cam I know the history on this one first hand. Morris got the job done when he had to there is no doubt about that. But LSU had some nice recruits lined up to follow Walker. They knew that they were not going to start over Walker, nobody in the country at that time would have started at second over Walker. When they found out and from the Skippers mouth directly that it did not look good for them because of the situation the program was putting him in. They decided to play elsewhere.

I'm not doubting your knowledge of the situation at all, and I don't disagree with Walker being the best player at the time, on LSU and the country...I don't disagree one bit, however Warren Morris was still a good ballplayer and he proved he wasn't just a kid that was given something be influence when you got healthy made it through the minors and in the big leagues. He obviously was a legit ballplayer, and i've heard this debate so many times and there are a bunch of gimme college ballplayers out there. And they aren't to par and somebody got em there and they take away a spot for a real potential players, but those guys all sell insurance or take over daddy's company after college. Warren Morris is a professional ballplayer, so there must have been some validity to Skip recruiting him, he obviously had something going for him...

I can't vouch for any info known on Warren Morris in college. However I can vouch for his skills and him as a person. My grandfather coached him in highschool, and until his death remained freinds of the family in Alexandria, LA. He was always very very high on Warren Morris, when he was healthy he was one heck of a ball player in college and the olympics. He made it to the majors and started off well, but fizzled over the years in the majors. My big point in this is he could play ball.
