But they never would have won.

Doesn't matter where you are in the regionals or CWS, you still have to beat the best teams in the country to win it all period. What difference does regional seeding make? As far as steroids last I checked king roid, Rafeal Palmerio went to MSU did he not???? I suppose he didn't discover the wonders of roids until after he left MSU??? Sure we had some questionable people, but so did every other school. However our two best hitters Todd Walker and Warren Morris were complete non roid users. I think this is a non winable argument about the roids. Back then recruiting was recruiting, MSU and LSU and everyoe else was after the same people. Bottom line, LSU recruited better, had better players, better teams and more hardware to show for it. Hell if you want to argue someting how about the way they treat SEC teams a bout ten years ago. After we had an almost all SEC CWS when LSU played Bama in the CWS final, they stacked almost all the SEC teams in the same regionals for years to keep it from being an all SEC CWS again.

I can't stand Palmeiro, so you'll get no arguement from me there.

I don't remember Morris being a great hitter. All he will be remembered for is the walk-off hr he hit against the Miami closer to win the CWS that barely made it out. Walker was a good hitter, but at the same time wasn't known for power. He got on base, stole bases and got in scoring position for the gorillas.

The NCAA is still stacking up the odds against the sec teams, possibly matching 6 of the 8 teams up against each other in super regionals.

You need to go back and look at Todd Walkers stats, he did it all, in fact in I belive it was the '93 CWS, he hit five HR's in three games. Walker definetly had power. Warren Morris was a good hitter and had some good HR years, but no Brandon Larson or Eddy Furniss years. As far as playing gorrilla ball, or having it taken away let me ask you a quesiton. This is back when gorilla ball was legal. If you can field a team that hits 150 HR's a year, which is exciting as heck, fills the stand creates revenue, AND wins championships, why in the hell would you want to play small ball??????

What is exciting about 15-10 or 20-15 game? Maybe I'm just a purest but I'd prefer watching a 3-2 nail biter all the way to the very end. I remember a CWS final that ended in a 20-14 score, and that game was boring as hell to watch. I don't care to see hr after hr after hr every inning.

You may not, but I think you'll find that kind of stuff fills the stands. The most fun LSU game I have ever been to was watching them play tiny Louisiana College by my grandparents house. It was with the '91 team, and they hit like 13 home runs, Lyle Mouton hit one that went out of dead center and across a four lane highway, then over an office building and into a guys backyard. By far the furthest I have ever seen anyone hit a baseball, and I still remember it to this day. I am saying economicaly that is what the majority of baseball fans want to see.

Warren Morris was an all world recruit that was hampered with injuries all through his college days. He was expected to be awesome, but never stayed healthy. The year made his mark, he'd been hurt all year and played limited, which is why most people don't know much about him...

not wanting to thread-jack this..

but for the record.. jeff ... you ask the question about steriod use by raffy while at msu..

the truth is that while at msu raffy never messed with any junk like roids..

its hard for everyone to understand just how good this guy was.. his sophmore year he was the triple crown winner in the sec..

after all the news broke last year about raffy and his steriod use, i did some research on the matter.. of all places to look i went and read the book that jose canseco wrote.. the first thing i did was look at the index to see how many times raffy's named was mentiond in Canseco's book..

bout 15 times.. Canseco takes full credit in his book for educating and getting Raffy started on juice..

futher evidence of this can be seen by looking at Raffy's power numbers.. what a coincidence that his numbers spiked right about the time that he began playing with Canseco....

sorry guys just wanted to clear that up

No offense cam but Warren Morris sucked. He made the team for one reason politics and politics only. I know that for a fact first hand. Todd Walker on the other hand was an all-american for a reason, he was a great ball player.

Let's look at something real, LSU is not going to a regional and their baseball season is over and it should be, they played like crap the whole year, and I am huge LSU fan, and I can admit it. Personally I don't think MSU deserves to be playing in a regional simply because they didn't make the SEC tournament and I am not saying LSU should because they did. The fact is MSU was ranked #1 in the nation UNTIL they started playing SEC teams and then what happened, they sank like the Titantic and didn't even make the SEC Tournament. Everyone can talk about the "Gorilla Ball" of the past and whatever. The bottom line is LSU has how many National Baseball Titles, 5 I believe is the correct answer, and MSU has how many, 0 IS the correct answer and no matter what anyone says or believes they don't give those National Titles and Trophyies away in Omaha, you earn them.
