Ranking the Sec stadiums

Postby big gumbo » Thu May 18, 2006 5:05 pm

Classic........In regards to MSU....... "Its not the high school feel of the placethat has it so far down the list. Instead, its the campus itself, which is what you expect from a Gulf South school".............F'n hillarious.

I haven't been to a game in Arkansas since the renovation, so I will take the guys word for it. Alabama has a nice facility. However, there is no way on earth that Georgia's stadium should be ranked ahead of Tiger Stadium. As most other respected national media types will attest, there is nothing like Death Valley on a Saturday night, period. Day games are another story in the early fall. The quietest 92K+ fans you will ever hear are at Georgia home games.

Delta...i take it you didn't make it to Athens for the last UGA v. LSU game.... Sanford gets loud...just not rude.... Sanford tends to get quiet at odd times, like in the middle of the UGA v. GT game :? ...but at its best its as loud as anwhere...the fans don't bring it week to week for some reason....

besides...this guy was ranking the facilities not the crowds.... If he were South Carolina would have to be the most obnoxious home crowd...followed by LSU, UT and Auburn in a dead heat (Florida would win for the worst dressed fans though).... as for noise...I'll just say this LSU is loud for an SEC stadium but of all the places I've been "the Big House" for a Mich. v. Mich. State game was the loudest...Happy Valley was on up there too....

Why, Delta here how go. It is not the biggest but nearly every fan of every opposing team i've ever talked to leaving after a game is very, very complimentary.

Gordon,

I am sure you are right. The few times I have been to games there it just was not what you would think it would be. Don't get me wrong, it is everything great about southern football when you consider the entirity of the atmosphere, but I don't think it can meet the loudness factor of an LSU game on Saturday night and being an LSU grad, I feel like the LSU atmosphere as a whole is much better. JMHO. Besides, the UGA/LSU game this year in Atlanta and last year in Athens gave ya'll plenty to cheer for. :D

For what it is worth, I think UGA is the class of the SEC right now as far as maintaining a consistently great program. That is hard for me to admit, but I think it is true.

By the way, will the true fresh start for ya'll this year?

Gumbo,

I have talked to some people about the stadium and the improvements and everyone is very complimentary of your facility. Like the orginal article in this thread states, the "jumbotron" is apparently spectacular.

If I am ever up that way for a game I will shoot you a pm so we can meet up. My curiosity is up.

Well, there is a chance he has all the tools but...some things will have to happen before he starts, namely he's gonna have to clearly beat someone out, which from what I hear he hasn't done (none of our QB's are SEC caliber right now...3 have the physical skills...the Senior (JT III)is a good leader but I don't think he's the answer now...Cox was a 3rd stringer last year, and has the confidence needed and a good enough arm, but hasn't made good decisions forcing throws this spring.... No doubt Stafford has a chance but given the systems, it's a longshot.... I think we will be good enough to win 7-8 games this year even with a questionable QB...maybe more but I'm not counting on it.... Gonna be a slow year in Athens.... UT is the team to watch in the East along with South Carolina...we may get lucky and Florida may do the same....both teams have BIG question marks....
