Recovering Chevrolet Arm Rest?????

I have a '99 chevy with leather seats and they are holding up pretty good but I have captain chairs and the leather on the arm rest on the driver side is cracked up and peeling. Has anyone replaced the leather on the armrest or replace the whole armrest? I know what some of yall are going to suggest........duck tape. Well, I had that idea too but it tends to get sticky and then it will tear all the hair from underneath my arm.

there is an upholstry shop downtown...right across the street from danny's actually its on the same side of the street i think. its called randy's upholstry and its on west st.

i had some seats done in my chevrolet and they did a good job

If you did decide to do it yourself you would have to remove the entire backing on the seat to get to the bolts that hold it on there. It can be a weekend job. Had this done on a previous truck by dealer and I watched them do the work, did not look like fun at all.. Good luck!

Call a body shop near you and they can easily refer someone near you. They have it done all the time.. just a suggestion.

I called the Chevy place and they have discontinued that part for the 99 models. He said I could call around to some junk yards or some vintage part places and try to find it. I also called Blaine's and they said all they could do is wrap the existing one with a leather cover.

I called Herrald Chevy in Canton and got the real scoop. What Herin-Gear didn't tell me is that the armrest is discontinued from GM's stock but you still can order it from the original manufacturer that made them for GM. Sometimes it takes a small town company to give you some personal attention.
