Tulane RB transfers to MSU
By Ian R. Rapoport

STARKVILLE — Running back Christian Ducre said he will transfer from Tulane to Mississippi State this fall.
And, because Tulane dropped his major, it appears Ducre will be eligible immediately, according to an NCAA bylaw. He will not have to sit out one year, as most transfers do.
"I think I'm in a much better position than I was coming out of high school," said Ducre, who sat out his first year with the Green Wave and took a redshirt.
Ducre, a 6-foot, 200-pounder from Fountainbleau (La.) High, was a first-team Class 5A all-state pick by the Times-Picayune of New Orleans as a senior. He rushed for 1,202 yards and 13 touchdowns, while catching 21 passes for 400 yards.
He said his decision to transfer was based on the fact that Tulane dropped its Computer Science major. That's why he's eligible, according to NCAA bylaw 14.5.5.2.3.
It says a player can be eligible right away if: "the student changed institutions in order to continue a major course of study because the original institution discontinued the academic program in the student's major."
So Ducre, who was recruited by MSU assistant coach Amos Jones, visited State and quickly accepted a scholarship offer from coach Sylvester Croom.
"They made me feel comfortable," Ducre said.

He was looking at Div II schools until he learned that he could transfer to another Div I school that offered his same major, thus in return allowing him to play right away. He committed early to USM out of high school, then chose to sign with Tulane when USM maxed out their RB scholly's.
USM people were high on him then and most still are from what I've been reading.

see, there you go without facts, first, Coach O had nothing to do with it, 2nd, they never approached Scelfo until after the players contacted us.... Third, the players contacted our coach first

Fact #1.....UM asst coach called Scelfo's office and got him on the phone.
Fact #2.....UM asst coach then handed Zero the phone so he could talk to Scelfo.
Fact #3.....Zero talked to Scelfo about taking players if they wanted to go anywhere.......mainly the QB.
Fact #4.....UM made the first contact......not Scelfo nor any of the players.
Now whatcha' got to say now???

Who gives a rat's booty, they were players from Tulane

seriously, has it come to this, Ms. Stank gloating over a transfer from Tulane. Won't help that team at all, that would take devine intervention so get busy on the Hail Marys.
