Police backpedal in Young's death
Drop 'homicide' from description of case

More than 30 hours into the investigation of the death of Memphis millionaire Logan Young Jr., police were backpedaling in their explanation of how he died.
In the hours after Young's body was found Tuesday, police deemed it a homicide investigation.
But Wednesday, they changed that description to a "death investigation," a term they use when they haven't determined if it's a homicide or an accident.
Wednesday, they would say only that "this death investigation continues" and that a ruling from the Shelby County Medical Examiner on the cause and manner of death was pending.
Reportedly, detectives received a preliminary report from the medical examiner but wouldn't divulge what it said.
The department has scheduled a press conference today to explain what made them conclude Young was the victim of a "brutal attack."
Young was found inside his Chickasaw Gardens home by a housekeeper just before 9 a.m.
Police, who described a blood-soaked crime scene at 226 Goodwyn, said Tuesday that the victim was so badly disfigured his body would have to be identified through fingerprints or dental records.
Detectives began looking for Logan Young III, the victim's son, who had been living with his father recently.
The son surrendered Tuesday afternoon and was questioned for hours about his father's death Tuesday night.
The son's attorneys told him he wasn't required to answer questions, but he did so anyway, attorney Leslie Ballin said.
Logan Young III gave police DNA samples and even let investigators scrape under his fingernails for evidence, Ballin said.
Police were naturally interested in talking to the son, Ballin said.
"There was no sign of forced entry, and he had been staying there," he said. "He answered each and every question."
"I truly think he is not a suspect."
When the questioning was over, the son walked away from the Criminal Justice Center with Ballin and his other attorney, Steve Farese.
Logan Young Jr., an avid University of Alabama booster, made news last year when he was convicted of paying a Memphis high school coach $150,000 to ensure that top football prospect Albert Means signed with the Crimson Tide.
He was sentenced to six months in prison and six months' house arrest, but was allowed to remain free on bond, and several months ago had a kidney transplant.
His scheme kept Alabama out of post-season bowl contention, cut scholarships and led to the school being put on a five-year probation.
Had the elder Young begun his prison term for money laundering and racketeering conspiracy, he would have been the first athletic booster to serve time for paying a high school coach to send a player to a particular school.

Can't figure-out the cause of death 48 hours after the body is discovered? Wow! But, then again, over in Memphrica they probably have bodies lined-up for days...
Interesting to see Frick and Frack, the Lawyer's in the Selmer, TN case of the shotgun shootin' preacher's wife. A case they are working at no charge(?). Guess they're figuring the appearances on CNN and the book they'll write someday will cover the expenses...

Boy, oh boy how so many have jumped to conclusions already. Especially you - go24 ( I really mean Gay24).
Here's the latest from Memphis: Police are now saying it was an accidental fall. He apparently fell on a metal stair railing, and walked throughout the house, then fell alongside his bed. Definitely, not what so many had already categorized....
So, it's not about Bama Football, so go back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I didn't jump to ANY conclusion you idiot. We all read the newspaper reports that said foul play was suspected. I said I hope this isn't football related, for once I meant goodwill to a misguided $Alabama$ athletic supporter!
Furthermore, why do you people who love $Alabama$ football always have to bring up "penis" and "gay" in every conversation. There are other boards for that kind of discussion
