Peanuts Anyone???

If anyone would like some info on peanuts for food plots here is the info.

They are bagging peanut seed for food plots. Pretty interesting, I have a brochure on them.

Here is some general info:

Planting dates May 7 - June 30
Peanuts are a legume, they don't need fertilizer (produce own Nitrogen)
Can spray Gramoxzone or 2,4DB over top for weeds
Plant 100 lbs per acre.
Plant in rows for best results, can be broadcast
24% Leaf Protein
41% Seed Protein
Corn has 8% protein

I will second that. I hunted a place last year and the farmer planted peanuts. The deer made the edge of the fields look like hawgs had been in there. When the peanuts are harvested there are so many left that it looks like they have not been harvested yet. The birds like them too.

if you can put water on the waste you'll have ducks in them thick.

We killed ducks that were full of peanuts last year, shell and all. You could not stick another one in their mouth if you tried.

wonder if ducks could get to 'em if you didn't dig 'em? I wouldn't mind planting some but I just don't see how they could dig 'em up?? I've always heard they'll eat chufa too and they're underground..........anybody know about this??

If peanuts are that desirable to a duck I wonder if it would be considered hunting over a baited field if you threw a few boiled peanuts out in front of your blind?

If you could find a disk, all you would have to do is lightly disk them to knock them up.

I haven't seen the birds hit fields prior to the dig. Never hunted one that hasn't been thrashed but I don't see how they can get to them.
