on a latter note - GH22 why don't u go ask your buddies on Gene's board if the cop got paid twice for getting beat up twice??? How f*in stupid? Why try so hard to implement Ole Miss b/c of the stupid actions of some of the State players??? I mean come on...a S-Ville cop paid by Ole Miss to go undressed to a party and start a fight with State players....that's a tad bit a bull $#!+ if I must be a poet...

I've haven't implemented Ole Miss into this, even though the Chief of Police is an Ole Miss homer that has been known to blow minor stuff out of proportion when it comes to incidents with athletes. Just like last year with the fight in the club........it was self defense, and the newspapers had it blown out of proportion with interviews from police.

boys lets face it some programs do a better job of damage control than others...they all have their problems though....
i'm gonna say what i've always said these are kids, they make mistakes, they should be held to the same standards as other college students. if they commited the assault they should pay the penalty, this doesn't make the program bad crooked or otherwise...just means some college kids exhibited pretty crappy judgement. these are atheletes not saints, yes they should be aware of their higher profile as many are, but they are still just kids. glad to see some ole miss faithful not taking the opportunity for a cheap shot (except for 1
that is)....

Hey GH22-I must say that I am an MSU alum and love the bulldogs, but I go to genespage just to make fun of people. Man, quit believing everything you read over there. I heard from a cop that was there that these thugs beat the sheit out of this guy over nothing. This is thug life at its best. THey all should be thrown in jail, but then that would be like home for them.

MSU players plead not guilty
By Ian R. Rapoport

STARKVILLE — The Mississippi State football players arrested Sunday and charged with simple assault of a police officer pled not guilty, their lawyer said today. An initial court appearance scheduled for today was postponed to May 1. The players were not present at Starkville Municipal Court.
The players arrested Sunday night include cornerback Derek Pegues and safety Keith Fitzhugh, both starters; offensive tackle Michael Gates, and defensive ends Charles Burns and Quinton Wesley. All are freshmen.
Starkville Police added a sixth player today, charging freshman quarterback Tray Rutland with the same crime.
None of the players could be reached for comment.
Each player charged with the felony was held in Webster County Jail until a $25,000 bond was posted.
The players have retained the services of Jay Perry, of the Starkville-based law firm Perry, Winfield, & Wolfe, P.A.
Through spokesman Mike Nemeth, MSU coach Sylvester Croom said he’ll wait for the legal process to run its course before disciplining the players. “But,†Croom added in a statement, “there will be discipline taken no matter the outcome of the legal process.â€
According to the report, the incident occurred at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday at Level III, a downtown Starkville nightclub, when off-duty police officer Demetric Armstead attempted to break up a fight between two women.
Armstead was attacked by “several individuals†and was knocked to the floor, said the report. He then identified himself as a Starkville police officer, but the attack continued.
The report said that after Armstead went outside and called for help he was attacked again. The attackers left the scene before on-duty police and Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, said the report.
A day-long investigation took place on Sunday, leading to the arrests on Sunday night.
