West Nile Virus in Doves

Today, I spoke with a doctor with the Mississippi Department of Health; she passed along the following precautions hunters should use while dove hunting and cleaning doves.

1.)Use bug spray. [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]
2.)Wear gloves when cleaning the doves
3.)Completely cook the meat.

I called the National CDC Hotline and they told me I would need to take every bird (dove or duck) into a vet to have it tested for the west nile before eating it. [img]images/smiles/icon_eek.gif[/img] Figured this fella had no idea what he was talking about. My sis is a vet (prob. not a very good one as she graduated from msu) and she told me just to cook em up real nice. [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] Hope I catch that feller from the CDC so I can

"hit em up side the head wif a boat paddle"

The feller on the phone also told me how to test myself for the west nile. He said "Aight redneck, close yaw eyes."
I said "Got em closed."
He said "see any em egyptian pyramids."
I said "no sir mista."
He said "You do not have the west nile."
Pretty full proof test I reckon.
