Ok, just for you Mudsucker ---USM sucked in football and basketball too --the whole state, except for the Fighting Okra, sucked in both sports.
Hope that makes you feel better.
I think the OL at UM this season will be much improved over last season. And we will have more weapons on offense ---more than just Mico ---BJGE at TB, R. Lane at TE, M. Green at WR or HB, and Brent Shaeffer at QB. I'll give my final prognostications later in the summer, but for now I think the offense will be much better, barring key injuries. I look for the Rebs to be able to run the ball well enough to win all of our non-conf games. On top of that, I think we will have enough firepower to win enough SEC games to reach a 6-7 win season (we play 12 games next year). I think we will struggle with the teams in the SEC who have top defenses that force you to be balanced. By then, hopefully our passing game will have come along well enough to be more balanced. Those are my early thoughts. I don't think 6-7 wins next season is unrealistic. I think we beat Memphis, Missouri, Kentucky, Wake Forest, Vandy and Northwestern State on sheer talent. I think Arkansas and MSU are winnable SEC games and "swing games" on our schedule. Out of the remaining games with UGA, Ala., AU, LSU, we might pull out one upset to offset an unexpected loss to one of the teams in the first group I mentioned. Winning 6-7 games next season would not necessarily mean we are a "good" football team, but it would be a step in the right direction.
