That's what I thought. For God's sake, your team is undefeated and number one in the country. WHY are you still talking about Ole Miss?

We've gotta have someone to pick on, might as well be Bianco and UM.

You don't come nowhere near close to all the superstitions I have when it concerns MSU baseball.

I get to the park just about the same time before first pitch. I park in the same spot every game. I walk the same route into the stadium. I wear the same clothes that I've always worn when it comes to a weekend series. And in doing so I don't believe state has ever lost a game when I've been there for a weekend series.

I don't smoke.

That reminds me though of the time he told Rick Cleveland off in the pressbox. Several yrs ago Polk walked up to the pressbox and lit a cigar in front of Rick. Rick said, Coach Polk...........this is a non-smoking facility, you do know what don't you?

Ron looked at him, turned his back to the field and asked him to read the white lettering on the green monster in center. Rick said Dudy Noble Field, Polk-Dement Stadium. Ron asked now what was that last part you said? Rick said Polk-Dement Stadium.........Ron said now shutup then.

As to whether Satterwhite is up to the task of being UM's friday night starter, it looks like we will all find out soon enough ---this Friday against the #3 RPI ranked Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. A tall order for a frosh, but Coach Bianco thinks he can handle it, and the kid has earned the spot.
We shall see.

Another UM frosh, Bukvich, is looking good with 3 straight mid-week starts and wins over Murray State, Arkansas State, and Memphis. If he continues looking good, he will get a shot at initially relieving some on the weekends and could work himself into the weekend starting rotation.

UM needs 2-3 more pitchers to come on strong and separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

Hitting looked better last night against Memphis at Autozone Park. Wright finally broke out of his slump with a nice 3-4 performance, including a 2 run homer. Hopefully, this will carry over into the weekend series vs Bama. Coghlan and Presley also showed signs of coming around. Maybe this weekend will be the weekend the Rebs start putting things together this season ----maybe.

It would probably be a little more fun to pick on people if the Ole Miss fans were praticipating though wouldn't it

I agree with Bigwater....ssshhhhh! Let's just let them play. Not so sure it would not hurt to lose one in BR this weekend. Then get on another roll. Bad vibes.....nervous.....

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ole Miss has now worked itself into position to gain a regional bid, but still a lot of work to be done. First, must qualify for the SEC tourney. And then finish in the top 30 RPI to pretty much insure a spot. Rebs are currently 7-8 in SEC play, the exact same record we had at this point in the season last year.

MSU has slipped from the early winning streak and high rankings, but such was to be expected somewhat ---you don't go undefeated in baseball. There is still a lot of baseball left in the season, and plenty of time to get it together for the 2nd half run.

UM's hitting has improved a lot from the early season ---and thank goodness ---at times, it appears we need 10 or more runs just to win a game with our inconsistent pitching. But, pitching has improved since beginnning of the season, but still not enough to get into the post-season. Rebs will have to continue getting better if want to keep the regional streak going.

MSU has the pitching, but has lacked timely hitting ---something Bigwater pointed out as a weakness early in the season, even when MSU was winning. Big has turned out to be prophet. But, this is a problem that is perhaps more mental than anything else ---in other words, it can be cured with better concentration and good karma.

I told you ole miss boys not to count your team out, in this league everyone is good, and out of a 56 game season every one will go into a slump its just whem they go into it and how quick they come out of it
