well if I had been there,they would have had to make other arrangements to get all them snakes out of there, cause my big behind would have been on the back of the 4 wheeler with a heart attack or they would have had to have a shovel and a change of clothes for me

The homecoming queen and her court went skinny dipping for spring break and the whole bunch floated to the surface...dead as a hammer...along with thousands of fish.

The EPA is investigating the pollution of the lake. Hasn't been that big of a slick on the water since the Valdez ran aground!

This was a part of the email that I received with the pictures.

Last Saturday & Sunday, we had a snake hunt around our deer camp in
Lafayette County. Somewhere around 240 cottonmouths were killed in that 2
day period. There was a segment about it on channel 9 news Tuesday night,
but I didn't see it. All of these were killed in one 4-wheeler trail that
goes around the edge of the Tallahatchie River bottom. We have no idea
how
many there were that weren't crossing this one 4-wheeler trail, because
people didn't ride anywhere else looking for them. Apparently they are
just coming out of hibernation and were headed toward the bottom, and had
to cross this trail to get there. These pictures only show the first 60
or
so that were brought out, but Sunday alone we counted about 180 that were
killed and brought out. Saturday we only had 3 people hunting them, and
they brought out about 60. Watch where you put your feet.

I can believe it. Back when I was a student at Ole Miss, I used to fish a lot during the spring along the creeks running into Sardis Lake ---Toby Tubby, Hurricane, Black Water, Little Tallahatchie. This was back when the normal pool was much higher and the creek fishing during the spring bass spawn was superb. (It has now gone to schit with the lower normal pool).

Due to snake problems, my creek bank fishing usually ended in early May every year. One particular year, I tried pushing it into mid-May at one of my favorite "secret" spots on Blackwater Creek. After I left my truck parked along a road next to a bridge over the creek, walked about 100 yards, and rounded a big turn in the creek, I could see something black and large moving in the creek at the next bend. As I got closer, I realized that it was a large mass of cottonmouths all wrapped up together and slithering in a big ball. Talk about the hebeegeebees --yikes!! If someone had a stopwatch and had timed my return back up the creekbank to my truck, I might could have set some type of track record.

The feeder creeks/rivers running in/out of Sardis have always held a lot of cottonmouths ---more so than any area I have seen in the Delta. Not sure why. Maybe a snake expert on the board can explain this for us.
