To re-visit Bigwater's question, I think we can now start reading a good bit into UM's slow start this season. Since the original post in this thread, UM has now lost 2 of 3 on the road to UCLA, and 2 of 3 to Vandy in Oxford. What this tells me is that this UM team is going to struggle until it finds the right combination of pitchers for the weekend, and hitters in the lineup.

Satterwhite is the only UM pitcher that has looked good so far during the weekend series against the better competition. I look for Bianco to move him to the Friday night starter since Baumgardner is not getting it done (very disappointing, since he is probably our most seasoned and experienced pitcher). As long as Satterwhite continues to perform well in that new role, Bianco will then experiment with different combinations of Sat. and Sun. starters and relievers until he finds the right combo that gives us the best chance. Hopefully, this will all work out within the next 2-3 weekends.

As for hitting, we have 3 key players from last season currently hitting below .250 ---Coghlan, Wright, and Presley. Hopefully they will get back on track pretty soon ----or Bianco sits them down for a talented frosh in their place.

Losing some early mid-week games to lesser teams (games we should have won), will now put pressure on the Rebs to win the remaining mid-week games, some of which will be against some good opponents such as USM, Memphis, etc.

I am hoping that Ole Miss can pull an MSU type season from last year out of its hat, by getting in a groove the last 1/3 of the season and finishing with a lot of momentum ---enough to get into the post-season. Hosting a regional in Oxford this year, so far, looks like a pipe dream. We will be lucky to squeak into a regional unless things change dramatically.

"Satterwhite has all the potential in the world,"
Ill played three years of college baseball and been coaching high school baseball for two now and i coached against him last year...........one of the best if not the best high school baseball arm i have ever ran up against, i tipped my hat to him as he screwed up me and my teams ass last year, go ahead and put it in the books...........theres ur sec freshman of the year and quite possibly a freshman all american............that boy is a bad ass...........thats all it is too it...........
If it wasn't for bad luck then i would have no luck at all........

i coached against crosswhite last year, good kid and and good arm, ill take satterwhite, weatherford is a hell of a pitcher too. hell of a arm, but once again give me satterwhite, i have not seen the other boy throw yet so i really cant say what i think bout him...........now, dont get me wrong weatherford is good, real good, i just would rather have cody,
now..........ive been honest, now u be...........in order for u to make a ture opinion about all three of them being better than cody, than surely u have seen cody pitch before right????????????????????
and by sayin that all three are better than him then ur also sayin that all three could go to ole miss right now and be their friday night starter, because that what cody got moved up to yesterday after the won the only game for ole miss this weekend..........so is that what ur sayin?
If it wasn't for bad luck then i would have no luck at all........

MSU's midweek starters could be UM's weekend guys right now.

Heck that goes for most of the SEC, that just shows you how much State is stacked in the pitching dept right now.

The one time I saw video highlights of Satterwhite in HS, he was all over the plate, overthrowing on every pitch trying to hit 95. Bianco may have slowed him down now, but he is nowhere near Mr. Friday Night material at this point in his early career. Paul Maholm did it as a true frosh at MSU and went 8-3, but Satterwhite isn't Maholm. Bianco needs to leave him in the saturday spot or move him to sunday, that way UM can scratch out at least 1 win on the weekends. I don't see him being able to go head-to-head with the other friday guys at this point and time, even though he'll give UM their best chance of winning the friday game.

thats a good point, him matching up with everyone else's number three in the rubber game would be alittle easier, but, the same amount or almost the same amount of pressure would be there on sunday if he is pitching down at the box and has to avoid looking at all the brooms that they are holdin up cause their goin for a sweep, satterwhite is a gamer, he wants that damn ball on friday night just like i would if i was still good enough to play or anybody else who truely loves the game of baseball...........go against the best........f&^% the rest...........
ur right, satterwhite isnt mahom(spelling), but the same goes the other way around.........u know by no means am i suxing cody's johnson here i just think hes a hell of a baseball that IS GOIN TO SURPRISE ALOT OF PEOPLE, and i will agree to disagree with u about state have three freshman better than him........i just dont see it.............and im pretty sure that im not the only one........

GH22 is right he is not a FRI night starter, I wouldn't let him go on Sat. either, Ole Miss is just trying to find something right now so I would bet that by the end of the season he want be on Fri night

im not argueing the fact that he is or isnt a friday night starter nor am i really arguein at all, im gonna lose any sleep over any of this at all, but simply sayin my opinion and my opinion is that he is a hell of a pitcher who very well could be the sec freshman of the year alone with a freshman all american and also the fact that no msu does not have three freshman pitchers that are all better than him............thats what im sayin............im pretty sure that people need to see satterwhite pitch.........thats why i cant comment on the leas boy..........never since him throw

Would all Ole Miss baseball fans participating in this discussion please raise their hands?

Anyone....??

That's what I thought. For God's sake, your team is undefeated and number one in the country. WHY are you still talking about Ole Miss?
