SEC basketball Tournament

Postby Woodduckdawg » Mon Feb 27, 2006 12:32 pm

So who do you have winning the SEC basketball Tournament next week?

Florida always starts strong and fizzles at the end. The hogs are winning now, TN looks good too. LSU is strong as well. My hope is the KY goes home early, but it wouldn't surprise me if they play hard here too. As for our beloved Mississippi, I'm afraid we will be home early. Maybe next year, even though I wish they play strong.

But we do have nifty throw-back uniforms to look at.

LSU is very strong, but I frear it may be a short post season. They are banged up, Thomas will be out the next two games at least w/ a high ankle sprain, those take a long time to heal. Davis has a bad ankle also. If they went out early in the SEC tourney and rested for the NCAA I think it would be a good move. However this team plays with an amazing amount of heart and I am very impressed with that.

Rod Barnes is going to pull one out of his proverbial booty, and guide the much maligned Rebs to the SEC tourney title, and thereafter to the NCAA tourney as the lowest seed in the tourney, causing great frustration and consternation among the Reb fans (including me ) who want Rod replaced after season's end. Such will give him at least one more year to run the program into the ground before the administration cries uncle. Stranger things have happened. At least the Rebs should be well rested ---we've been pacing ourselves --- having not hustled or played good defense for the better part of the SEC season. The Rebs are due to peak anytime.

Games start today. Who ya got winning the big game on Sunday?

LSU admits they are resting and few teams are on the bubble for the NCAA bracket. Other teams have nothing to lose and there really isn't a clear winner (powerful team) in my opinion.

Po Monk, UM couldn't win the SEC tourney if all the other teams kicked back and went into relax mode during the games.......they'd still lose.

I don't necessarily disagree. But, Arkansas once made a highly improbable run through the tourney when Nolan was coaching one of his worst regular season teams, truly pulling one out of their proverbial booty and earning an NCAA tourney bid in the process. Strange things happen sometimes in conference tournaments. Some of the better teams, whose dance cards have already been punched, may not want to lay it all on the line just yet, instead waiting on the NCAA tourney. That is why we play the games.

No, I will not be placing any bets on such a Rebel run to occur. We will likely lose to the Cats ---as they will be playing to earn or solidify an NCAA tournament bid and Tubby is somewhat on the hot seat. There will be no holding back by Kentucky. But, I will predict that the Rebs will play the Cats much tighter than the regular season blowout. I look for the victory margin to be no more than 12 points in a hard fought game.

PoMo,
Ole Miss playing KY much tighter then the blowout before. What? 29 points is close!!! :)

Ole Miss will lose, and the game should be closer than before (we all hope so). I hope MSU and Ole Miss does well but I have a feeling both will no tbe playing on the weekend. MSU could surprise some teams if they play the way they have the past couple of games.

Let the games being!!! March Madness is here!

Well, we lost by 14. I was pretty close. I said the Cats margin of victory would be no more than 12. Where else can you get this type of accurate basketball analysis?

THANK GOD THIS SEASON IS FINALLY OVER!!!!! Lord have mercy.

Now, may Rod just go quietly into the sunset.

Yeah, that team had Joe Johnson on it, tells me he wasn't coaching too hard and taking it easy until it looked like he was nit bound, it took him two years to get to recruting hard again. The class that would havecome in if Noaln didn't start hating whitey so damn much included Iggy Igudala (76ers) Wen Mokubo (at UAB) jj Sullinger(ohio st.) among others, but enough was enough and after the program was totally gutted the program is taking baby steps to get back to where it was, it hasn't been easy and its been heartbreaking but the the light at the end of the tunnel is glorious sunshiine and I'm pumping it baby.

The bright spot for Ole Miss is you can only go up from here. Like i've said, i want it to be as competative as all get out andback to the days where at least two teams in the final four is SEC and beat Dook.
