Dog Trainer
Does anybody know of any GOOD retriever trainers in central Ms? I have a 1 1/2 year old black lab that I started and have got all the basics down. Due to the poor season last year he didn't have much in the field experience. I would like to fine tune what I've already worked on if anybody has any ideas. Thanks for you help in advance.

RB, there may be a HRC (Hunter/Retriever Club) near you.....I would highly recommend you participate in their training days. Then, (if you need one), you'll eventually find the right 'trainer' when you interact with other handlers.
I think the neatest part of duck hunting is the 'teamwork' of a good dog and handler.....and it's extra special when you've trained your own.
I'm sure a lot of good advice is forthcoming.....some of these guys on here are top-notch dog handlers.

I highly recommend Glenn McElroy, he is my trainer and does an excellent job. He is located in Vaiden,Ms. and is a regular on the Ms Ducks site. His cell #392-1096.

RB, I do not know where you are from for convience sake, but Charlie Moody is in Louisville. He has been doing it for quite a while and has a good reputation for dog training. He can be reached at home at 662-773-6048. I hope this helps.

Glenn McElroy does a good job. Call him. He takes several dogs before the season starts just for fine tuning and excersize.

Glen is my choice also. He does a great job with the dogs.

Thanks fellow duckmen.... I'll try to give one of them a call if I don't get any more responses or names.

I've seen Charlie Moody take a plug of a dog and make a good retriever out of it. He gets my vote.

Moody is a good friend of mine and a great dog trainer. He will treat you right.

Moody is the MAN! when it comes to dog traing! He has helped my dogs get to the next level and beyond. I can not speak high enough about his training style and business ethics. I highly recomend him if you can get a spot in his kennel! He will also work with the owners if they want to come and visit and let him know they are coming. heis one on one attention has also become a traing session to me as a handler. Glenn Mcelroy in Vaiden (Magnolia Retrievers) or
Reed Trusty (Bear Creek Kennels) at Morgan City 662-254-7925
I've heard good things about both from retriever owners they have trained for.
