A great day to be a Reb

Postby Po Monkey Lounger » Mon Feb 27, 2006 10:53 am

Coach O just picked up two new football commits for the 2007 class ----Johnny Brown, RB Charleston, MS; and Drake Nevis, DT Marrero, LA. That makes a total of 10 commits to-date, with 8 of them from MS and all expected to be highly rated and considered elite players.

Also, Coach O just picked up a late signee for the 2006 class ---Daverin Geralds, OL. Geralds is qualified and adds some needed depth to the OL. (Chances are that Geralds will not be the only late addition to the '06 class before fall).

Reb baseballers have started 6-1, including a recent sweep of Maine, who was a team in the first round NCAA regional in Oxford last season, and a pre-season favorite in their conference to return to the NCAA regionals this season. Some quality wins for the Rebs early in the season. Looking good so far ---some good young arms are showing early promise on the mound, and the bats are heating up.

And Ole Miss lost again and again in basketball. Looks like Rod will be gone at the end of the season!! (No thanks to the Hogs, who tried to give Rod some life and a pulse ---but, many thanks to MSU, UK, and Auburn  ). Fire them all and let the new coaching search begin.

I have already booked my room for Omaha to watch the Rebs in the College World Series. And I am working on ordering my Sugar Bowl tickets to watch the future 06 SEC champion Rebs in their first Sugar Bowl since the 60s. I just cannot decide where I want to stay in the Big Easy ---so few options since Katrina.

And not to be outdone by the Hogs, I understand that UM (on a more limited budget) is installing bathtubs in the outfield, and letting business donors sponsor Rebel co-eds in bubble bath competitions between innings ---student and former alumni judges will hold up cards at the end of each performance, with scores between 1-10, much like Olympic figure skating. Points will be awarded on beauty, originality, flexibility, costume (or lack thereof), hygiene and personality. Still not to be outdone by either UM or the Hogs, I understand that MSU will be installing rice wells next to the left field lounge (country boys and girls gettin down on the farm  ).

At least that is how I see things today through my red and blue glasses.

Plus Coach O has started a construction company as well. His first project is to build a fence around the Memphis area. :)

Brown will never see the field at Ole Miss, nor Northwest CC.

The teachers are trying to help him, and he's still almost failing. I doubt he could make a 12 on the act.

Maybe, but Coach O has a "plan" to get him eligible. After the fall semester, Brown will transfer to the Holy Sisters of Mercy Catholic school in Alligator, MS to work on his grades and prep for the ACT.

Alligator is the home of one former Reb great, Tony "Alligator" Bennett, and was once featured in the cornfield segment of Hee Haw ---say halleluh!!!!

I remember that. Gator Bennett got a little handsy with that ol gal with curlers in her hair and Junior Samples slapped the chit out of him. It is hard to believe that they would show something like that on network TV back then.

maybe not, but it still doesn't change the fact that O is kicking Croom's ass in state in recruiting.....

God you rebs are something.

These commitments don't mean jack and y'all know it.

MSU can very easily offer them the day before they are "supposed" to sign with UM and pull'em away.

Alot can change in a year, all of us know this.

Heck, MSU could go undefeated and UM not win a game, far fetched but possible, just like all these far fetched commitments.

Nope, not gonna happen Jeff. By then, Coach Croom will have already pulled their offer.
