Gotta Love Coach O..........

Postby Po Monkey Lounger » Mon Feb 27, 2006 3:28 pm

and his bluntness in answering questions. The following answers from Coach O during a pre-spring press conference about our new offense under OC Dan Werner includes some pretty funny stuff:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Last year you emphasized the USC offense. Is that gone now?

Coach O: That is gone. I felt I needed an OC who I could be confident in to run his own scheme and Dan is that guy. I was at Miami for five years and believe that scheme is fantastic. Dan has complete control of the offense.

Q: How much do you expect to get done on offense in spring?

Coach O: We can install a lot. We can do everything in terms of sets, personnel, the way we are going to operate in the offense. I think we can put in 95% of it in spring.

Q: What do you have to do differently this year versus what you did last year to be successful?

Coach O: We need to be able to establish a consistent offense that can move the ball and keep the defense off the field. We have to be able to run the ball when we want to. We also need better decision-making in the QB slot and better OL play. We have to develop a PK who is consistent. On defense, we have to be more consistent stopping the run and be better on third down.

Q: What will your role be in the offense?

Coach O: I hope I'm saying "good job." I like to be involved in personnel decisions, but he's calling the plays and determining the gameplans. The only thing I will do is make game-day decisions like going for it on fourth down.

Q: Is the offense starting over from scratch or is there some retention from last year?

Coach O: We are starting over from scratch, but that's a good thing.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No ego or defensiveness at all about the offense and its lack of productivity during this past season. Refreshing.

As you Bulldogs know and believe, RK is part of the NCAA conspiracy against MSU. As long as RK is at UM, we are bullet proof. Hummers for everyone. I got a hummer. You got a hummer? No? Bummer. We all need a hummer.

The black helicopters are circling, they're following you, coming to get you. Run for your lives!!!! No, its just Coach O on a recruiting trip.

the one thing these umiss fans dont realize is JWS had many classes like this. He had one that was ranked 6 or 7th or something like that and that was on the espn top 10 recruiting list. What did they do? EXACTLY!! Look at Rick Stansbury. Great recruiter, could not coach his way out of a paperbag. I think O is a great recruiter, but all these umiss fans are going to have egg on their face when he goes 3-8 a few more times.

Well, first of all....ALL of Jackie's good classes were almost completely JUCO players, and States always forget that in this conversation, but are quick to blame JAckie for going after only JUCO athletes in other conversations??? Double-speak? Strange? Yeah...

BUt anyways, Our classes have both been mostly high school kids not JUCO's. Apples and oranges...

Also, if you wanna get real technical, you say what did Jackie do after those good classes??? Well, he did have the more successful teams at State and you did go to Atlanta. Had those classes been prep talent who knows....recruiting in the key....even State has proven it, even if it was illegal at times, nevertheless getting talent on campus is key to winning...But yall keep argueing the point if you want....

Actually, the best recruiting classes came after the sec championship game and if you look they were majority HS players. Yes, State recruited Jucos and yes the 98-2000 teams were juco heavy, but the worst years were 2001-present, and those have been majority hs players.

Jackie national success came recruiting JUCO's. AND it got him to Atlanta, after that he started downhill and JUCO streak went dry...it's widely known and there is no point in debating it. JWS showed alot of people the instability of recruiting JUCO, but it did get him to Atlanta....so....
