B-ball
It all depends how much $$ it will take to buy him out. I do think Barnes is a great guy, just a couple of bad years. Another cycle of up and down teams. But truth is Ole Miss has never been a basketball school and Barnes is the best thing going for them. Ole Miss had one great year and everyone thinks they wil reach the Final Four every year. Kinda sounds like Ole Miss baseball now doesn't it? Regardless I hope he stays around at least one more year. Last year was dreadful and this team is still young. They will be OK with experience.
The boo-birds were calling for Rick's head too earlier in the year, but MSU spanks Ole Miss and all seems to be forgiven. I'm more disappointed in the dawgs than the rebs this year in my opinion. Don't even begin to talk that horrible USM team either. Just not the year of roundball in MS I guess.

Bigwater,
I agree people with sense are not calling for Rick's head, but all the internet "experts" on other forums are not happy MSU is heading to the NCAA dance. Early in the year after all those loses, the boo-birds were wanting a change. Now if they were serious about it, i would think they are nuts. MSU is having a down year no doubt. But many think he is not able to win in the big games, not me personally, but there are those who think that.

to even repeat what the so called internet experts/ boo- birds have said is to give credibility to a group of idiots.. a group of idiots, that prolly a high percentage of have never strapped it up and competed on the field..
yes lets fire him he's only been to the ncaa 4 times in a row.. which was just as many times as the school had been there before he got there.. thats right we had been to the ncaa tourney four times before rick became the coach..
we lost everything last year.. to me this team this year has shown some moments where they have flashed potential.. potential that should be much better next year...
fire him fire jack jim ron sharon fire all them mf'ers

Rick Stansbury's situation is not even close to Barnes. UM, under Barnes, assuming we win no more than 2 more games this year, will complete its 4th straight season of sub .500 SEC play and no NCAA tourney (or even the NIT). Despite the previous early success of Barnes (with players left over from Evans), he has clearly lost control of the program and has lost the fans and supporters. I don't think he can get them back, short of an immediate miraculous turnaround next season.

I don't think Evans has the same fire and drive that he had when he first took the job at UM. UM will need an energetic relatively young coach who is willing to roll up his sleeves and work hard recruiting , developing his players by teaching fundamentals, and coming up with smart, flexible game plans.
