Anyone know whats going on here?

Cornered in between I-55 and Highway 4 in Senatobia is a duck observatory. Tale is that DU and the Corp of engineers went in together on this. They placed several dirt mounds and some bird boxes in a 10 acre swamp that is right by the road and backs up to a hunting camp. Every so often you might find a coot lookin for a quick meal there. There is a fenced concrete pad with picnic tables and chairs setup that took all of 3 months to complete. I pass by this place often, and have yet to see anyone "observing" these coots. It is the biggest waste of money I have ever seen. This money could have been well spent actually doing some good across the road in the swamps along hickahala. Anyone know what the Corp or DU is thinkin?

i know about two years ago we hit a dry spell at our usual holes. my buddy had a wild hair in his @ss and wanted to try out that hole so we did. we stroked some greys there for 3 days straight even got a few mallards and widgeon but thats the last time ive been out there. ever since they started that program down there i haven see anything use it except a few woddies
i know them boys that got that lil club down on the back side of it and they dont ever do much after the first few days. i agree with you that they could have went across the road and maybe done a lil better but hey who am i to say

Is that on the south side of Hwy 4? Isn't that a part of the Coldwater River bottoms?

Southeast corner. No, part of Hickahala where it begins. Coldwater is north of there.
