Charter fishing on the MS gulf coast

Postby dedux » Sat Jul 27, 2002 1:24 am

Anyone got any recommendations for a good reputable charter fishing service out of the MS gulf coast? Not looking to set any trophy records, just want to spend a safe and fairly successful day on the water with my son.
Thanks.

Try this site www.gulfcoast.org I think the site is still there if not here are some phone numbers to get some info on some Ms. Gulf Coast charters. Biloxi Small Craft Harbor 228-436 4062, Broadwater Marina 228-388-2211,Gulfport Small Craft Harbor 228-868-5713 and Point Cadet Marina 228-436-9312. A freind of mine on the coast owns Anytime Fishing Charter. The last time I fished with him he was running a 31 footer that will fish up to 6 people. Mainly trolling and rig fishing. His name is Jason and his phone numbers are 228-436-3901 and 228-341-6201. If he is booked up, he knows enough people down there to get you with a good reputable captain.

I just spoke with Capt. Jason on his cell phone. He took a group out yesterday and they caught 4 limits of red snapper and caught a bunch of spanish mackrel trolling on their way back in. Barring bad weather, he can put you on some fish.

We always fish with Capt Mike on "Mr Champ" 601.432.0172. Light line operation in teh Mississippi Sound, always good on trout, redfish, cobia, snapper and whaterver else was biting. Been ahwile but it was $300/day up to 3 fishing buddies. Good luck

Jim Twiggs has a couple of charters. Lots are listed on www.fishinmississippi.com or Doc's best bets. I went Saturday on my own caught a few kings and bonita. Lots of bait but pretty slow. Charter captains on the radio made like it was slow too

Jim Twiggs is an old buddy of mine and a good skipper. You can find a lot of charter services on www.docsbestbets.com. I never take charters, so I pretty much have stayed out of this.
