Damn Benny, I guess I better weigh in before this thread is deleted.

Duck hunting is HARD.

In my old age I find the less things I have to carry the more enjoyable the hunt. Seems like whenever any "gadgetry" is involved, there is the added inconvenience/annoyance of upkeep and maintenance that takes away from the hunt. In my old age I find that hitting that perfect note on your call at the perfect time is more satisfying than busting a flight and having to pass up on a shot because you might hit your twirly

To each his own.

Forget the stick to smack'em with. I've got to where I ugly them down. Jump outa the blind, pull up the face mask, they just fall over dead.

Only problem with it, the last few years I been tearin'em up to bad. Not much to eat. I may have to resort to a stick yet!

I usually use the shiny silver batteries because they are always on sale and I need a lot of them.

HDC, you should have known better than to make a post about gadgets on this traditionalist "no one else knows how to duck hunt but me" board.LOL. I too like gadgets, but only when they "actually" make things less complicated, and the key emphasis here is the word "actually". For instance, anyone who has used a spinner decoy before, and has the guts to admit it on this board (I do -I can handle myself with these sanctimonious blowhards), and has fumbled with them in the dark trying to set one up out of a moving boat in deep water, probably has thrown at least one of them overboard or at least temporarily "lost their religion". In many instances, it is just much simpler and easier, and just as effective, to deploy traditional decoys and leave the gadgets alone. Anything that would require me to fool with wires running back to the blind, activating a remote control, etc. is just not going to be a part of my arsenal. Someone could get killed during the early morning setup.LOL. A simple jerk string or a vibrating decoy (ie The Real McCoy, which has been out for quite some time), is enough to fool with for me.

I see that the "Duck God" Benny is back, posting as Old Salty. I look forward to some civil discourse with him about DUCK HUNTING.
