I have one just turning 8 I think I'm going to stick with a 410. A friend of mine bought his boy a 20 rem. pump when he was 8 and It was kicking the crap outta of him. He was turning his head sideways when he shot.Winchester does make a 410 shell in 3 inch bismuth too, their high as hexx 33.00 a box' My 10 year old started with a 410 , last year I moved him up to the rem.youth model 20 and hes shooting great. If you are stuck on getting him a 20 wally world does carry a new england arms with 2 barrels. one a 20 and he other is a 243. I think the price for it was 121.00. They would probly have too order one, but it is in their book in sporting goods.

my boy is 8, got him a 1100 20ga, kicks him to much, went down to a 410 for a year are so, if he is a little boy, 50-60lbs, that lite weight 20 hammers his shoulder to much.410 for a little boy, just my .02$

My 10 yr old nephew shoots a Winchester youth 20 pump and he seem to fine with that, He was shooting a 410 single shot and he said that the 410 kicks worse than the 20.

I have a youth model single shot 20 ga that I was planning on selling this fall -- its maybe 4 years old. The youth 20ga just had a shorter barrell, the stock was the same size as the regular model. I took it to a gunsmith and had him cut it down, and put a sling on it.

It was easy for him to operate, and light enough for him to carry around. Its not fancy, but a good step before the 'big guns'.

If you are interested in it, call me. 800-757-1059, ext. 134. Michael
