gun control

Postby Oakey » Fri Jul 26, 2002 8:56 am

Guys I am somewhat new at this site, but I have read a lot of posts since I have been here. I am not trying to get anyone stirred up, but I do believe this is something to think about. I for the most part agree with most of you on the topic that duck hunting has become to commercialized and that every Tom, Dick, and Harry are getting into it. I have been duck hunting since I could strap on a pair of waders with my dad and I dearly love the sport. Yes, I am somewhat pissed off that when I go hunting on public land and I have to fight for a spot. But, on the other hand, I truly believe that in the future gun control is going to become a bigger issue than it already is. It just seems to me that the more people we can bring to the sport of hunting and the more commercialized it becomes that will only better our chances to fight this insane attempt to control guns. (Just a thought)

I agree totally....We may hate it but those people are the ones that will make or break the sport of hunting. All money spends the same, Yankee or Southerner...just ask your local guide service

No amount of money, nor amount of people envolved will change the future of gun control.
Do you not realize that minority rules in this country. Someone will be shot by a gun and they will file a law suit against the Gov. for not protecting them from the gun and so and so on.
If one small group can take prayer out of schools, Under God from our pledge then what on earth makes you think numbers are going to do for guns?
It's the politics and special intrest groups that run this country. As long as there is money to be made in hunting it will be around. Just us small people that will suffer the outcome.

better tomorrow

Did you ever stop to think that the more commercialized hunting gets the more exposure it will get. More exposure = more poeple, hunters and antihunters; and there are a heckuva lot more antihunters than there are us. So what do we do? Who knows; but if we do need to recruit more hunters into the future of hunting, at least let's recruit people who will have the future interest of hunting at stake and not some upscale yuppie who just wants to hunt because he/she heard it's something they might want to try. I know I want my son to enjoy the outdoors as I have and I will fight to the best of my ability to preserve that for him.

like the saying says" when you raise your kids right , you don't have to worry... they will know what to do" it all begins at home, i learned everything good and bad from my father about hunting, and that is the way it should be
