About that fence in Memphis....

Memphis has a grand total of just 6 commits the day before signing day. Only one is from Memphis --Duke Calhoun. Yes, Ole Miss wanted Calhoun, but he had been recruited by Memphis for a long time and his mother has some strong Memphis supporters as acquaintances. He chose between Ole Miss and Memphis, with other suitors including UT, AR, etc.

UT has no commits from Memphis.

Ole Miss, on the other hand, has 5 commits from Memphis.

In summary, I believe that is Coach O - 5, West -1, Fulmer - ZERO.

Orgeron's comments to an Ole Miss alumni gathering in Memphis in the fall of '05 about "building a fence around Memphis" was simply coachspeak --the type of stuff you hear at any gathering of alums when a head coach comes to speak to them. But, there happened to be a Memphis reporter or two at the meeting and the comments were later reported in the Commercial Appeal and blown completely out of proportion, with Coach O getting subjected to public ridicule by UT's Fulmer and Memphis' West, as well as some media pundits.

I'll bet West and Fulmer aren't cracking any jokes now. :wink: :lol: I'd say that fence is holding up pretty good ---just a little patching to do :lol:

well O better watch out for fulmer, fulmer was one of the main people behind the investigation that hurt bama so bad, and he did it because bama was getting a lot of recruits out of TN mainly memphis.

Bringing Cut back was Phat Phil's biggest mistake this off season. His days are definately numbered.

i thought bringing in cut was a good move, it got mustain to look at them, and they took a QB away from the rebs

Well, I would say to Phat Phil, BRING IT ON!!! ( I think these were Coach O's words in response to Phat Phil's unprovoked public sniping before and after the UT game).

Phat Phil is getting his booty handed to him on a plate, fair and square, and he knows it. If anyone resorts to cheating, it will be Phat Phil. And, with the Tide with their stinger out, Ole Miss fresh off sanctions and with its stinger out, MSU still on sanctions, etc etc. , I don't think anyone in the SEC will ignore or fail to report any wrongdoing on UT's part. Desperation will cause desparate behavior, and I'm telling you, like I did this past season about UT, the Phat Phil program is in big trouble ---will be lucky to go 6-5 next season, IMO, which will NOT fly with the Vol nation.

Who cares if Mustain gives you a look. He is still going to Arkansas. Besides he brought back a terrible offense. Not as bad as Randy Sanders or whoever but still terrible. Besides it is all Phat Phil'e Offense just less talent this past year and Sanders was a fall guy. Phatty Phil's days are numbered.

about all i see Phil getting from Cut is 1 extra box of doughnuts he's gotta buy daily, 2 more packs of salem lights daily, and a good qb coach...
