Hoof Disease

Postby redwine » Wed Jan 25, 2006 11:02 am

My neighbor brought a deer by yesterday evening that he killed, and both front hooves were swollen up as big as a softball. The deer was not walking or running good before he shot it. It was a very heavy horned 10 point. Those feet were pretty screwed up looking. Anyone else seen this.

The guy said that he talked to the game warden about it and they didn't think that was it.

just curious because of several different people killing deer this year with different things such as this and the worms in the brains, when you kill a deer that some deformity is there somewhere that you can take it and have it checked out

a guy i work with killed an 8 point with a club foot?

The worms in the brain is nothing unusual I talked to Ellis and he said that its very common to see blow fly (?) in the nasal passage and brain area of deer.
If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.

I shot one over in Louisiana several years ago that had a severly swollen front foot. Since he only had 3 teeth in his head I figured he was just an old deer that got an infection but I dunno
