Poaching near Canton

Postby go24 » Mon Jan 23, 2006 10:47 pm

Hearing rumors today about some Yazoo county boys getting busted for poaching in the middle of the day. Some big place(managed for trophies) close to Canton. Said the Sheriff's Dept cracked the case and took home the spoils- vehicles, guns etc.

What fun is there in that kind of hunting?

I second that. We had a deer (no idea buck or doe) killed on our place at Stokes Rd. around Christmas. All we found was the blood spot where the deer hit the ground and blood trail back to the truck.

I was driving South on 49 a couple of weeks ago in Yazoo county. There was a white Chevy Impala park on the side of the road headed north. Just about the time I got even with the car, the person in the car fired a shot down a powerline out the passenger side window... Couldn't get a tag number or anyting...but might have been the same group.

ur right. they had a shakedown bout this time last week.

kinda funny you mentioned that i haven't heard the whole story
from the man himself yet. it was in an area where you are
"stupid" to try and poach. some people really amaze me.

who wants to put forth the effort to poach on somebodys land? not me, i don't even have effort to hunt my land sometimes i'm so lazy.

we find atleast one dead doe that somebody smokes and then it runs off in the woods so they think they miss and just leave it. If I catch em its gonna be a wooped ars....no game warden involved, but when I get through they won't want to come back. Sad thing is I havent even seen a game warden all year and I beg them to come put up one of those dummy deer. Hell I'll sit there and keep em company if they want me to. I just want that guy riding down the road to think to himself "is that real?" before he pops one off from the road. It would save me $100 in gas a year not to have to patrol around all the time to make sure nobody is poachin. Bad thing is we've got over three miles of road frontage that is private property and there are signs up, so there is no mistakes on this place.

i hunt in lexington and we have seen the game warden on several occasions and he says he can put out the decoy and the good crooks shot paint ball guns at it to make fun of them, we have only have one group of hunters hunt on us all year but we did have someone kill a hunting dog
I might lose a job or a woman, but i will never lose hunting.

My sources say that the land owners couldn't get much help from mdwfp. Finally got the sheriff's office involved. Turns out, they had three vehicles and six people with a well planned system of meeting points and timed drop offs/pick ups.

Caught these folks in the broad daylight.

Glad they got them. The MDWFP is just undermanned. Thank you legislators for that.
