BB too large for ducks?

Postby Rogmatt » Fri Jan 20, 2006 5:14 pm

I fly out tomorrow for my first duck hunting trip. The only shells Academy had left in 3" was BB 1 3/8 oz so I got them. No 1s or 2s left.
Will I be handicapped?

I've killed'em with BB's and BBB's. I prefer 2's. If you got ducks to shoot at you can wack'em with either.

I like #3's for big dux...#4's for smaller ones. I use BB for smaller geese. If your shooting longer shots, you should be ok. Id try ta find a Wall Mart along the way and check em out, but, I wouldnt cancel my trip over it...Good luck

BB is all my brother has shot this year and he has loved it. He hits ducks with it and they dead as hell. None of this cripple mess.

shoot'em

Postby gunner » Mon Jan 23, 2006 6:33 am

that's all i shoot. i usually buy the winchester HV's 1550 fps.. I kill (not cripple) more ducks with these shells than any other i've ever used. cleaned many ducks as a result of these shells and the meat is not messed up that bad either, and i like to decoy them when i can.. you just have to shoot'em in da beak.

If I have to shoot steel, I shoot BB's. They will do just fine for you.
