snow geese while duck hunting?

snow geese while duck hunting?

I have noticed that a lot of pics are including a few snows in with their ducks. Are yall puttting some snow dekes out and calling them in, calling them in to the duck decoys, or just getting lucky with some hail mary shots at low fliers? :?

Got a few on some low flyovers. I been putting out some Canadian dekes to add to the comfort factor. Don't know if they were looking at them or not. Never did give em time to decide.

i killed a snow goose this season that landed in my decoys. never seen it happen in my life at my camp, but besides that luck i dont know about floaters.

no snow decoys for me...they fly over semi-low and they're getting steel in their direction. may hit one in the eye or sumthin and bring em down!

I've called juvies into a duck spread (flooded rice) using a Specklebelly call......'don't matter if they see another goose or not.......and it doesn't even have to be their own kind.........'just want company.

Most of the ones we've taken while duck hunting have been some we caught flying just a little too low but we did have one come into the dekes a couple of weeks ago when there was some low fog. First time I'd seen that happen. I believe he would have landed in the decoys if I'd given him the chance. :wink:

At least one dead goose of the snow or specklebelly variety is pretty much a given on any given duck hunt of ours, IF we feel like pulling the trigger on him. When there's as many geese in the area as we have, the law of large numbers says that at least one is gonna screw up.

I'm with mottlet, we have a bunch, and it's about a guarantee that one will screw up. But also, I have 8 floating speck decoys, and a call, and have decoyed a good number of them this year, and even a couple snows/blues.

Snow geese while duck hunting is common place, but ducks while snow goose hunting...that is skilz!

One hunt on the river with one more pass we were set up on a point right off the river. About 3 or 4 hours into the hunt we noticed some very loud honking over our left shoulders. We turned around to see what was going on, to our surprise we had a group(6 or 8) canadians coming right over our heads. I have never seen geese do this before, they came over and made one circle then lit right in the middle of our decoys. We were so shocked we only managed to get one out of the group. We could not believe it, but it was not over about 30 min later another group of honkers made the same pattern over our left shoulder out in front and right in the middle of our spread. This time we managed to take out three of the five. Twice in one hunt and that has never happened to us again. I guess we just happened to be where they wanted to be
