Mississippi.....a good thing
With all that is going on the world today I just wanted to re-iterate what we from Mississippi have always known but sometimes need to be reminded of. I have had the pleasure of being back in Miss. twice in two weeks(wedding, and family reunion), in V'burg. All this crap about the pledge, terrorist, Worldcom, etc., etc., really has little bearing on the big pic in Ms. Why do I say this, because I just came back from a place where family, God, faith, carring, respect, manners, heritage, tradition, and a strong sense of preservation still exists. This past week while looking back at old photos, talking to the young & old Aunts and Uncles who lived through the depression, wars, hard times, 50's, 60's, 70's, and so on, I felt so much comfort knowing that the Mississippi where I cam from and I grew up in is still alive and thriving. There are allot of us from Ms. that venture out to make a living, but seem to always come back to the place where we belong, maybe to be buried or to retire, but we do come back.

Very well said.
I cannot wait until I can return, but I have not found a rope strong enough to hold my wife so that I can drag her across the state line. She is from Alabama and, of course, DOES NOT UNDERSTAND. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Forever and ever, Amen! Don't know what it is, but when I cross the line back into MS, the pressures seem to drop away and I can breathe more deeply...I just feel more free! She's a great state, boys! And you guys who've made the choice to stay there, don't take her for granted. Think about what you have and what it means to you. There aren't many days when I don't think about the fact that I miss my home state. I just interviewed a young man who graduated from St. Al there in V'burg. We reminisced about hot tomales from Sollies and duck hunting for a while...my mistake! I think I made him think too much becuase when I offered him a job,he smiled and said, "I'm not sure I'm ready to leave home!" Smart boy!

I totally agree. Even though I sneak across the border daily to my office, I have to come back every evening. And being this close to 'city life' sometimes gets to me.
Yeah, a week in Cancun is fun, the big sky in Wyoming is a beautiful sight, and the lights in NYC have to be experienced once.
But it's so relaxing to travel to Jaxn to water ski, or spend a quiet weekend in a tree looking at deer in south Mississippi.... or lordy help us all -- watching the ducks fall in a hole somewhere in the delta. Like the movie, this is as good as it gets.

I've been nearly around the world and back, and always love getting back to Mississippi.
I've lived here all my life, except for the time in the military. But, why the hell does it have to be so damn hot and humid?????!!!!! I've seen days when I've worked outside all day long, leaving the house weighing 220 lbs.in the morning, then weighing only 205 lbs. at night. SHEESH, IT'S HOT HERE!!!!

When the exec/corp world as we know it, falls due to the greedy and power hungry nut cases, Mississippi or shall I refer to it as GODS COUNTRY will still be standing strong.

AND THE WEATHER....who can resist the allure of 95 degree August heat with 100% humidity and the southern sun bearing down on you as you sweat up a storm...all the while fighting off hordes of mosquitoes? Ahhh...why would anybody want to be anywhere else? Heehee, I think November thru February makes up for it though.....AND THE WOMEN..the purtiest in the world if you ask me.

I've ventured out a few times and folks act like they feel sorry for me when I say I'm from MS. They just don't get it! We've got it good here. Thank you, Lord!
